Here's the fifth in my NASCAR fan fiction series! Enjoy! (Jazzfan0217, you'll like this one. ) Auto Club 400 By: Bumblebee765 The rain shortens the race this time around. Tony Stewart in the #14 drives to victory in the shortened race! The Autobots get away with no injuries this time… Speedstrike was standing in the main room of the Autobot’s base, along with Charger, Rev, and his Spark-sibling Huntress. While Optimus Prime was away Speedstrike was in charge. He had just told Death Track to go find Ironhide. The Autobot weapons specialist was probably in the armory, possibly even testing weapons in the shooting range. Death Track returned moments later after being sent with Ironhide next to him. Death Track joined the group standing behind the others next to Rev. “So I hear you have an assignment for me?” Ironhide said to Speedstrike. “Why else would I have sent Death Track to go find you?” Speedstrike said with a smile, which Ironhide returned. “Alright, where am I going?” “Prowl’s found another Decepticon. We fear this might be a trap; they must not be shielding their Energon signatures very well. That and finding their base just two weeks ago you need to be careful.” “Ha, I don’t need to be careful! Not when I’m rocking these guns!” as he said that he gestured to his twin arm cannons. “We’ve programmed the coordinates of your mission into your main GPS. Good luck.” The other Autobots nodded at Ironhide as he transformed and left the building. *** The coordinates in his GPS led Ironhide to a location in the same state the Autobot base was located. That would worry any other Autobot, but Ironhide wasn’t the usual Autobot. He could look death in the eye and smile, cannons charged up. Once again the mission was in the middle of the night. Ironhide knew why, but he wasn’t too happy about it. Thankfully just like every other Autobot he could switch his eyes to night vision. Thanks to Ratchet they all had that attribute. It gave the Autobots some edge over the Decepticons. Ironhide converted into his robot mode near Dobbins Air Reserve Base. There were many different kinds of jets at that base. He converted his left arm into an Energon reading screen just like Prowl’s. The Energon spikes were already very fast, and they only picked up the closer he got to the planes. He hopped the fence and scanned around the base, the spikes quickly increasing as he approached a baby blue and light purple jet. Those are strange colors for a military jet, Ironhide thought. He pointed his cannons at the strangely colored jet, and the jet must have sensed his presence, because it suddenly began to transform into a Decepticon. The thrusters shifted up onto the robot’s back and the wings flipped back onto either side of the thrusters. The cockpit shifted down into the torso of the robot, and the rear turned into the legs, which hardly touched the ground before the thrusters acted like a jetpack to life the robot into the air. “Hello Slipstream,” Ironhide growled, taking aim with his cannons. “Ironhide, long time no see,” she said in response. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I’m not really feeling up to it. Sayonara!” She converted back into her vehicle mode and rocketed off. Ironhide locked his cannons back into his arms, beginning his transformation back into his vehicle mode as well. As he ran at the fence he radioed back to the Autobot base, “Speedstrike, I need backup, Slipstream’s getting away!” He didn’t even give Speedstrike a chance to reply. He leaped over the fence and completed his transformation into vehicle mode before he slammed into the ground. Ironhide weaved through the streets. Thankfully it was very late and no human vehicles were around. The Autobot’s cover would definitely have been blown if there was. He swerved through the streets after Slipstream, who was too high in the air for Ironhide to get a good shot on him. From high above even Slipstream Ironhide noticed the Autobot transport jet. The back ramp of the jet opened and the #5 NASCAR car drove speedily out of it. It midair it transformed into the form of the Autobot Jazz, who then converted his right hand into a grappling hook. He shot it at Slipstream and hooked onto the back of her jet mode, which Jazz was then pulled along with. “Ironhide!” Jazz shouted down to the Autobot weapons specialist. Ironhide immediately understood, and drove to catch up with his ally. Jazz was being dragged along the pavement before he got to his feet, almost skating on the road, sending sparks up in his wake. Ironhide pulled in front of him and Jazz leapt into the air, and when he came back to the ground there was a barrier between him and the road. Ironhide had driven slightly back to allow Jazz to land on the back of his truck mode. “Thanks buddy!” he called down to his teammate. Ironhide sped up to try to catch up to Slipstream. He just had to get Jazz closer… “Thanks a lot Ironhide, but I think it’s time for me to make my leave!” Jazz said as he reeled in his hook, pulling himself closer to the Decepticon jet. He got to her and landed on the backside of Slipstream’s alternate mode. The hook was still attached to her, just in case he would fall off. Without wasting a second Jazz transformed his left hand into a small blade, and stabbed it into the Decepticon. She flew towards the ground in front of Ironhide, who transformed back into his robot mode before she transformed and slammed into the ground. She ripped Jazz’s hook free and tossed it, and him, to the side. Ironhide unlocked his cannons and fired a shot at Slipstream. She just turned her back to the Autobots bullet and it deflected off the armor plates on her back. She retaliated with some rapid fire from the Gatling gun mounted on her right arm. Ironhide rotated and locked his right cannon into a different position and instead of firing bullets it shot a huge plasma blast that vaporized all Slipstream’s bullets. Jazz had recovered after Ironhide’s show of brilliance, and shot a harpoon into a crack in Slipstream’s back armor. She screamed in pain and Ironhide took that chance to shoot a rocket at her front, causing another cry. “Pesky Autobots!” she shouted before transforming and flying off. “Oh, no you don’t!” Jazz shouted before hooking her again and being whisked off the macadam once again. This time Ironhide caught him and he reeled Slipstream in, who continued to struggle and get away from the Autobots’ grasp. Finally she transformed and activated a blade on her left arm, which she used to cut the line connecting her to Jazz. Before she transformed back into vehicle mode she ripped the hook out of her leg and threw it to the ground. Then she was gone. Jazz reeled the line in before he walked to retrieve his hook. Ironhide walked up to him and put his hand on Jazz’s shoulder, “I’m sure Ratchet can fix that right up for you.” “Yeah, I know, but Slipstream got away…” “We’ll find her, and next time it’s personal,” Ironhide growled as he gazed at the point where he had last seen Slipstream. Data File:Autobot Data File Ironhide Technical Data: Strength: 10 Intelligence: 9 Speed: 8 Endurance: 9 Rank: 8 Courage: 9 Fireblast: 10 Skill: 8 Bio: Ironhide is the Autobots weapons specialist. If you need a new gun or blade he’s the one you turn to. He’s kept the best weapons for himself of course, like his twin arm cannons. One is capable of firing off homing missiles rapidly while shooting off plasma blasts, while the other is a heavy machine gun. He was once a member of the Cybertronian Defense Military, back when Megatron was leader of it. When the military turned against the civilians they were protecting, and began changing their Cybertronian Defense insignias to that of Megatron’s followers Ironhide left and joined Optimus Prime and the Autobots.
