I have just been informed that Transformers the Movie ZipZaps will be coming to Radio Shack stores in May. The below listings are not yet in Radio Shack computers, but will be soon.

    Bumblebee (600-0181)
    Barricade (600-0182)
    Optimus Prime (600-0183)

ZipZaps are remote controleld cars that are slightly larger than Matchbox cars. You can see examples Here.

I normally don't buy anything Transformers that does not transform, but Zip Zaps are a lot of fun and to have one that looks like Optimus is too hard to resist. Thanks for the news.

You sure they won't transform? Wasn't there something that said that companies that wanted the movie licence had to have the product transform in some way?

    yeap!

Tomy released car kits back in 2002 / 2003. They were the originals to which all micro sized RC's are based off of.

    (alt windcharger for sure) :)

(hope the images show, but ...)

You start with the car's platform. You can swap out the wheels, engine, gearing, and body kit. There are all sorts of modification sites on the net too. Fun, fun stuff.

I had bought one that was so bad you had to basically have the antennas touching for it to move. are these radio shack things relatively reliable?

I've already got too many of those things, unless I can get just the bodies there's no way I'll be able to pick up any new ones...
