Today's strip sums up my feelings surprisingly well.
Disliking movie designs =/= G1 fanboy
I suspect this thread will go crazy in 3, 2, 1 ...
In before the thread turn into a "we have t3h right this and that" !!!
Well, c'mon, we've all thought it at one time or another--what kind of a kick-@$$ leader is Megatron supposed to be when he has to have one of his subordinates wield him every time he transforms? I mean, even Shockwave didn't have that weakness.
As for "Bumblebee must be a VW", I'd just like to say that a blindingly yellow Beetle ("Zero to sixty? Well, yes.") is a lousy choice for an alt mode when your Tech Specs says you're supposed to be in espionage. At least a Camaro is fast.
Rachet should be an off-roader. Ironhide should be a pick-up. Vans just aren't that tough-looking anymore, if indeed they ever were.
There, that's out of my system.
ah pitty da foo' that thinks vans aint tuff!!
cant forget frank's battle van
otherwise, i agree with what you are getting at.
but alt modes are not what everyone is pissed about.
its the bot modes.
i havent read the leaked script (nor do i plan to), but i hope megatron shows up late and not quite dressed for the ocassion.
maybe even starscream saying "psst. hey. leader... you uh, arent blending very well."
haha and megs could even have a reply like
"look who's talking, poultry legs."
as for this thread...
I also decline to read the leaked script, but we've been told that this Megatron doesn't want to blend in. Essentially, he thinks it's useless and beneath him to disguise himself as inferior technology for the sake of inferior creatures. I'm guessing he might change his mind in the sequel, once the creatures he thought were inferior have helped the Autobots kick his ass.
I honestly dont think megs needs a true earth alt mode.
He dont need it, he is not here to impress, he is here to get the matrix, and dispose of any lifeform or auto bot as seen fit.
Other than that a van for ironhide..... "In a world where one autobot, so manly, so handsome....what problems will overwhelm this hero???? Say hello to the soccer mom's!!!!!!"
And a VW? I wouldnt be feeling it......beside's I bet a transformation from a beetle would be 10-9 feet tall. Pretty dam short!
"Giant Metal Mullet" I cant believe I hadn't seen that before :
It all depends on why. The grand majority don't like them because they are changed so much from the original. I am a bit wary of them because I think that they should look as human as possible to maximize relatablility.
Is the movie implying a G1 element in it (or a direct linkage to it)? If so, the solution is simple, dissassociate it from the Transformers G1 series and make it into another Transformers series.
Wasn't that about how tall BB was in G1? I mean, he didn't exactly tower over Spike, who was probably 6 ft. tall at best.
Exactly ... they have already said that some choices for vehicles were done just because of how big a robot it would make. They already had ideas of how big the robots should be, and chose vehicles to suite it without any retarted phase shifting or growing stuff. Thats why they chose the long nose truck for prime ... so that he would not be one of the smallest robots when compared to the others or decepticons.
They have already made a statement saying that the transformers will not follow G1 in reguards to the looks. The fanboys just can't let it go that things change is the problem.
