At least it's better than not being numbered among the all time domestic movie totals. I would have been really happy if it was among the top 10.

They took out the Imax receipts...

When you clicked on movies it used to have both the general box-office results & Imax seperate. Do they combined them both now?

Seems to me it should have passed the 700 Mil mark by now, it's been holding at 697ish for the past 2 weeks.

Very cool, but in today's moment driven economy this doesn't really mean anything. Ten years from now,we'll be lucky for it to be in the top forty.

I'd like to see its real place on the list if they'd factor inflation and movies made before the invention of the summer blcokbuster.

Well, that's not the point, really. It shows that the movie is a success. And people got to know "transformers" and the movie has generated more "fans." And we can have potentially more high budget Transformers movie that we will be seeing even ten years from now. I don't think anybody even remotely predict that the movie is going to do this good, since many studios was passing out on the opportunity to do this movie.

It's the best time to be a transfan!

Yes it is... and it's the best time for old fans of TF to renew their interest in TF. Case in point... my brother.

They track that too. It's currently sitting at #97 after adjusting for inflation, which is pretty damn mindboggling when you think about it.

One of the sequel has a potential to be in the top ten. We have a good reason to rejoice. I have high hopes that those movie makers will finally take TF franchise seriously.

This is good news. Is there any word on when it'll hit dollar theaters, what with it coming to DVD so soon and all?

Now thats more like it, and yes I think it is pretty mind bottling. Definitely something we should be more proud of than the non-adjusted price.

Ah, yes. Bottled Mind -- check your grocer's refrigerated section! :p

    I keed, I keed.

On topic, this kicks ass! I was hoping it'd beat Shrek 3, but I don't know if it's got another $6M in it.

Gosh. If only they'd listened to Phazer, the movie might have been a success....

#20 unadjusted and #97 adjusted are pretty impressive positions.

Almost 700 millions worldwide is a lot! Remember the movie's budget was 150 million ... below what other '07 summer blockbuster used as budget. IIRC PoTC3's budget was 300 million.

So by all accounts it's a huge success. Not only did it make a lot on the box office, but it proved to be a better investment than other summer blockbusters. And the fact that now it has grossed more than a LotR movie it's amazing because those movies aren't that old.

    :lol

Poor Phazer ... I'd like to know his opinion on the movie success now. I almost never agreed with him, but at least he didn't sound (to me) like a ranting lunatic like other movie haters.

Just not the best time to be a TF collector. (drought, scalpers are now looking our way, 50 billion repaints & repackages etc etc.)
