The Universe of the Transformers is vast, and populated by many characters. Their universe is a large tapestry, made up of the stories and points of view of countless experiences that serve the larger whole.

These are some of those stories. This is:

It should be noted that while this project has been recognized by IDW Publishing and Hasbro, none of the works presented have been commissioned or solicited by either company. The stories are not official canon, except where noted. These stories are the result of Transformers enthusiasts taking the time out of their busy days to contribute to a universe they love. No one has been paid for the production of these stories.

That was horrible. I'm sorry, but I have to say it. It's not even remotely humorous, the best part about the art is the dog, and if you say that the artist is over the age of 10 then I'm going to tell you in all honesty that the artist should consider something other than art. It's like they tried to use Matt Moylan's style of artwork, and managed to someone mess it up.

I'd comment on the writing but ... there's three spoken lines and one set-up text. There's more sound effects than there is dialogue (7 to 4 respectively).

Hate on me all you want, but that's my honest critique. I'm sure the people that worked on this are awesome people and honest-to-God fans of the series. I just really, really don't like this Mosaic at all.

    Agreed.

But if there are any clues to take from the story, it's that the Decepticons are obviosuly trying to sway this woman towards their side given how they sent her a get-well card, added to the whole thing with Powerglide killing her dog and putting her in the hospital.

I'm kinda curious, do other fan works get treated this harshly? And I don't mean about whether or not the critiques are accurate/justified, I just mean it seems like people wouldn't react this way to a Radicon project or some of the non-Mosaic fan art around here. Would they? Is there something about Mosaic that makes it ok to just say "horrible" or "pointless" without adding any actual commentary? I don't follow reactions to this stuff all that much, so I'm genuinely curious here.

Actually, we should be able to express our thoughts about all facets of our collected fan art. Feedback, whether good or bad, should be welcomed and assessed on its merits. I chose to voice my thoughts about this without any desire to harm the creator. I was just surprised by it. His next piece may be fantastic. If I post a peice of fan art, I expect feedback from my fellow fans as a way of improving what I had done.

Besides: "One man's art is another Man's junk." Eye of the beholder kind of stuff.

Yeah, not speaking out against that. I was just wondering why folks seem more willing to do so on Mosaic posts than most other fan art that gets posted in general. :)

My comments are more of an observational question than a complaint. Kinda makes me wonder if Mosaic is becoming institution, which might be making people more willing to tear into it as if it were official content or something (despite there being disclaimers to the contrary included with every post).

And besides, if any art is up for all sorts of criticism and discussion, then so are the reactions to it. ;)

What I learned in the net is that critics mostly (not allways) are not constructive.

I allways wonder if it is impossible to say why I like or don't like something?
    You can't learn from a 1-liner! :2c:

Maybe it's because mosaics are team efforts, so multiple people are responsible for it, and people don't feel as bad about calling out a group of people as opposed to one guy.

Mosaics used to be cool because they were a team effort and would pop up once every couple of weeks.

Now there's one just about every other day it seems. They've lost their magic, they've dropped whatever standards they've had, and they seem to be pushing for a "more is better" type of deal.

Like others, I have no ill intentions towards the creators. I just do not like their finished product. I'm entitled to that opinion, and I'm entitled to share it.
