Do they say we are rowdy assholes, though? I hope they do, it's the truth!
Well I know some TF fans that don't come here because they think we're all dumb rednecks who worship Michael Bay like a god.
Not sure how things are on tumblr.
Those who only hang out on the movie sub-forum are. Say anything negative about the movie and they'll jump on you. I avoid that place.
Oh, I was just talking about Tumblr in general. On Transformers Tumblrs, it's 100% pervs.
And of course, they can talk about us with as much disdain as they want. They're on Tumblr, so they're probably illiterate anyway.
Wow, they sure do have this place pegged wrong, don't they? I mean, there are those kinds of fans around too... but mostly they stay in their ghetto (movie discussion section) and don't mix well with others.
Congrats, SMOG. You just called Josh Burcham and Josh Perez illiterate pervs.
I really, certainly hope you're joking about that by the way. I'm almost positive that you are, but on the internet and without hearing a tone of voice you never know...
Also, if anyone sincerely wanted to know, the stereotype of a TFW member at its worst is that of a moronic, illiterate, elitist, intolerant, sexist and/or racist neckbeard manchild. So, uh...yeah. :/
Eh it's not like we haven't got a couple of those as well.
Those guys, like, really don't have very good perception skills, do they?
You don't know half of it. Some of them make 1984 look like an intelligent human being.
I don't want to live on this world anymore.
Oh, I'm most certainly teasing... but in the sense that those who would be considered "TF Tumblr fans" probably should be able to laugh at it themselves. Tumblr is both an interesting medium to fire art into the heart of the fandom, but also a drain grate that catches all the choice bits of ill-considered fan sewage as well.
I do actually like those Tumblr feeds as a source of random fan-art I may not have seen before. Sometimes you get more than you bargain for though. Still not as bad as 4chan though.
I can't really be bothered by that. That's really the negative stereotype of EVERY kind of fanboy, Transformers or otherwise... and you find them EVERYWHERE online, not just here.
Though if one is willing to employ those kinds of stereotypes without hint of irony or humour, I think it says more about one's own self-loathing insecurities and a fierce desire to separate oneself from a crowd that is distasteful precisely because it provides an unsettling mirror.
4chan is best described as the internet's unwashed armpit. During summer.
As for the stereotypes, you get that in just about every fandom, it just seems that they've become more vocal/prominent in TF-dom in the last 6/7 years, from my observations.
Ahaha oh wow.
They think of us like that?
Don't worry people, TF fans are still nothing in the department of obnoxiousness and stupidity compared to the horrid wonders one might find while journeying the deepest pits of Naruto\Sonic\Final Fantasy forums.
Don't you think you're generalizing a little bit? I know there a lot of guys that are into that stuff, but surely I'm not the only one capable of enjoying non-violent sex? (I did the math, and yes, your percentage implies that there is only one man [less than one actually] on the planet that's not like this). In fact there is a whole genre of porn dedicated to the domination of men by women, not my thing either. Now just so you understand I'm not trying to argue that the porn industry is not a toxic environment for women (it can be very terrible), but I can't see the Biased Generalization Fallacy and not point it out.
Which is precisely why I completely withdrew from the Sonic fandom at the turn of the millennium (right after Sonic Adventure was released, come to think of it). Love the games but loathe the fandom.
Yeah I withdrew from the RPG Maker scene for similar reasons. It's got it worse since the whole thing was built around the idea of an elite few who could actually code - and do so well - looking down on all those unable to approach their standards.
At any rate, we're way off the mark here. Not long now until #13! Let's see if we get any questions answered, like who that guy talking to Chromedome was (I've no idea, personally, but probably the same one responsible for Overlord being there in the first place)
Also, I wonder why they call it a Shoomer?
Only two more days.
Feels like a freaking eternity...
Seriously. #13 appears to be a side story so I'm not predicting too much main plot advancement. Looks hella fun though.
If the usual formula holds, the "A" plot will be a side story developing the characters. The "B" plot will delve more into the ongoing story arc and quite probably set up for the next few issues.
