So, back in 2007, around when the first Transformers movie was released, Hasbro also released a Transformers edition Monopoly, featuring G1 artwork and G1 themed game tokens. The box looked like this:

Later a second edition was advertised in a box looking like this:

There was also a Revenge of the Fallen movie edition, packaged as such:

My question is, were the last two ever released? I have the first one, but I've never seen the second two. And if the second one was released, was it any different than the first one, aside from the art on the box?

Thanks! And mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move. I couldn't decide between here and the toy forum!

^The G1 versions have different pewter tokens, for example, the first one contains Bumblebee, but no Grimlock. The second one has Grimlock.

The ROTF version I saw once on Ebay, not sure if it contains pewter tokens though.

For people who buy multiple Monopoly sets, do you collect them like you collect TFs? It legitimately sounds fascinating to have all of those unique box arts and little pewters.

Same gameboard and cards etc between the first two editions. Except the box art the only diffrence is the pewter figs.
1st edition: Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Bumblebee and Jazz.
2:nd edition: Optimus, Megatron, Shockwave, Ravage, Grimlock and Ironhide.

I didn't even know of the third version. It isn't listed on Boardgamegeek it seems, so maybe it was cancelled, though I guess boardgamegeek isn't infallible so they could of course have missed it too.

There are other transformers games there too, if anyone here is interested in boardgames.

Interesting. So are the Optimus and Megatron pewter figures the same, or do they have any differences?

Mind if I ask which one you picked up?

I have the first one, and I've seen the second one on Amazon. Never did see the ROTF version. I would definitely like to get the second G1 version and the ROTF version.

I don't have any TF sets, but I do have multiple basic Monopoly sets (all gifts). I play each of them with varying regularity (Muppets most and LOTR is unopened). But the rule now is no more themed Monopoly sets.

I don't know. I have the second edition with Shockwave, Grimlock etc. But it is in a box in the basement and I don't really remember how Prime and Megs looked.
I know you have the first edition but maybe someone here who have the second edition can verify if Prime&Megs looks like this in the second edition.

Crap. Not only did I not know about the second edition, it has variant game pieces! I must haves tiny metal Shockwave and Grimock!

I remember the ROTF edition being announced, but I never saw it in stores.

Just discovered that there's a G1 card game version of Monopoly too, which of course I must own:

MONOPOLY DEAL TRANSFORMERS CARD GAME HASBRO NEW IN PACK - eBay (item 180557388225 end time Mar-04-11 11:16:21 PST)

I've got a few others as well. Keep hoping I might be able to get some local TF fans to meetup for a game of TF Risk.

Although I already own the 1st edition, I would buy the 2nd in a heartbeat because it has 4 game piece figures exclusive to it. And I would buy the ROTF edition just because it's a unique piece of TF memorabilia.

I also have few other editions of Monopoly -- Vintage re-issue, Simpsons, Elvis (my wife's), Atlanta (got it for $1 at a yard sale), Star Wars, LOTR, Muppets, and there are others I will get eventually like Looney Tunes, Disney/Pixar, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

But I couldn't say I collect these like I do Transformers. Except for the Star Wars edition, I've opened and played all of them with friends and family. So their use is more recreational than for collecting.

I've seen the second one quite a few times but never picked it up. I have the first version but never played it. All the parts and stuff are still sealed in their little baggies. Anyone wanna come over to my place for a game of Monopoly? XD

If you're going to be at Anime Weekend Atlanta, you should totally bring it and round up some TF fans for a latenight after-con party.

Me neither. It's new to me also. Must have gotten limited distribution because I regularly scout for TF merch outside of the toys, and I never saw it in stores.

My wife and I have one of the "Monopoly Deal" card games, but it seems like we got it at least 2 years ago.

This TF G1-themed version was released in 2010, according to boardgamegeek.

Here's a review of the game with pics (reading this merely made me want the game all the more):

Life Distractions: Monopoly Deal: Transformers card game

And some related discussion on it at the allspark:

    Ditto!

Wanted to get the Movie one but never saw it anywhere. I found the first one at Hastings bookstore on clearance, TRU had them too but never put them on sale. Where did you guys find yours??

:lol  at the card set, always looking for the cards, but you'd pay more for shipping than the deck. hehee
