I know Sally Forth isn't the most popular newspaper comic but they do sometimes reference sci-fi and pop culture in a funny way. Anyway, I thought this was funny this morning. I always like seeing TF's mentioned in unusual places and I think it works no matter what one's perspective is on the movies.

I wish Foxtrot cracked TF jokes every now and then.

...Still not funny. Not in my opinion at least. Then again, it really isn't directed towards my age or gender group.

That would be great. It'd be perfect for Jason.

I know, it's not laugh out loud funny coming from the daughter. The dad though is kind of a goof and he's the one that normally makes the pop-culture references and Transformers would normally be right up his alley. Re-reading it, a.) I wish the Dad made the joke and b.) it's just nice to TF's mentioned somewhere unexpected. The Family Circus actually had a G1 Omega Supreme in a comic back in the 80's (at least I assume it was real and not a photoshop later).

It's also nice that it's a more-or-less positive reference. I always cringe when Transformers are mentioned outside of fandom circles, because I always expect it to be hate or ridicule. I guess that punch line could be interpreted as a (slight) insult to generation Y, but getting compared to a popular old movie is usually a good thing, even as a joke.
