A lot of the Beast Wars/Machine and Unicron trilogy characters have G1 names. Were any of these characters better than the G1 character with the same name?

BW Inferno, BW/BM Silverbolt, RID Ultra Magnus, & GF Soundwave immediately spring to mind.

I'd say Cybertron Blurr is a hell of a lot better than G1 Blurr.

If you're counting RID and/or Universe, I'd say Universe Ratchet is superior to G1 Ratchet. But only barely. Neither of them are very good toys, really.

Energon Landmine, maybe? Started life as a weird-looking Pretender, but his Energon version is pretty cool.

Not much else I can think of. I was about to say Cybertron Swerve, but no, I like G1 minibots too much to rank something above them. Also thought of Quickmix... but then looked up the old one on TFUinfo and decided I like the old one better.

EDIT: I was assuming this thread was referring to the toys.... if we're talking characters, I have no idea. I've never watched any of the post-G1 shows.

If we're talking toys, than yeah all of the predesessors are 'better' than the G1 bricks (god I love them bricks though)

Character-wise, I totally agree with the BW namesakes...even though i vastly prefer G1 Megatron to BW Megatron, G1 Megatron suffered from cookie-cutter 80's villain-itis.

BW Inferno, BW Megatron, RiD Magnus, Armada Starscream, Armada Scavenger, Cybertron Landmine, Cybertron Red Alert, Cybertron Starscream, and Cybertron Jetfire. Those are the ones who leap immediately to mind.

    BM Thrust was pretty cool.
E Rodimus was probably a lot better than the g1 cartoon rodimus
BW megatron was probably a better leader and character than g1 but he did actively base him self on g1 megs so emmm not sure.
Silverbot is about equal, both did a lot of interesting stuff.
BW Ravage was G1 ravage so…
    A. Scrapper had a lot more story than G1 scrapper did, although he kinda lost it in a massive way once he joined the autobots.

Oh and RID Magnus was no way better than g1, RID mag’s was basically a vegeta rip off and a typical anime bad boy, G1 Magnus was great, a fine solder and great leader but had problems with responsibilities of command but always tried to do what ever he could to get the job done, I got to like him more for the simple fact he’s not a standard character.

Cyberton Starscream > G1 Starscream >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Armada Starscream

Ravage's upgrade in BW made him better

Armada Thrust > Beast Machine's Thrust

Cyberton Megatron > All Megatrons (except G1)

What he said. If this is a toy discussion, it's unfair to compare Transformers from different DECADES! G1 may be brick-like, but damn! Those transformers were down right magical when they were first released in the 80's. Finding one was always a score. How could anything, no matter how advaned trough technology, ever beat that anyway? Sure, some Transformers are made better today, but we all know how they got that way.

which is why I think this thread is likely based on cartoon personalities.

With that said, my vote goes to BM Jetstorm and Armada Scavenger(before he joined the Bots formally)

    If it's based on personalities...

    I like Armada Starscream > G1 Starscream

I'm just a fan of G1. The toys were great, but at the same time maybe they were so great cause I was a little kid who loved to play with them. Most of the new TF lines to me are not that great. (Excluding alternators and some classics)
