Just read it, crazy, I thought this news was going to be about someone selling them on ebay or whatever having ripped it off from the movie, and it ended up being the other way around.

When the movie was out, I was searching for where I could get one of these for my wife (she really liked the design). I was surprised to find out that the original version is actually produced by a company right here where I live (according to this page here)!

Another tidbit related to this is that the copyright on the original design reads "© 2004 Evilkid Productions". Taking a look at the Web site for Evilkid Productions, there's no mention of an Alia Madden, only an A.V. Phibes. Perhaps the latter is a pseudonym?

I'm thinking she deserves to win this one. That has just totally screwed over her business.

Pics or it didn't happen. Anyone can claim a movie stole their ideas, hell, it happens to me everytime.

no, i've seen the design before, LONG before the movie, and when i saw it in the film, i thought wow, how appropriate. I would have assumed that dreamworks had permission, but man, i hope she wins.

Ouch. Someone at Dreamworks is going to get it for this little fiasco.

What a dumb move on Dreamwork's part. All they would have had to do is either get her permission or come up with their own design. It's not like it would hard to draw their own bee, put "Bee-Yotch" (different spelling) under it and print it out. Wouldn't have to be a real air-freshener at all. They'd still be ripping off her idea, but at least not in an illegal and blatant way.

I'm gonna stay neutral. I don't try to get into this kinda stuff.

That movie "Transmorphers" stole my entire idea (well, actually a dream) where robots battle us, they win, enslave us for countless years, then a hero rises up to take back the planet (true story!). But hey, I'd be up to my knees in lawsuit papers if I had to complain about every single thing I came up with that got "stolen."

I'm still looking for that hidden camera/audio receiver.

Why would you use a pseudonym in regards to the manufacture and sale of air fresheners? Makes this a bit shady to me.

What's she complaining about? You'd think having her stuff appearing in a box office-busting movie would only boost the sales. And I really don't see how she can lose any money from the whole thing.

Also, I contemplated on the possibility of human existence being merely virtual reality years before Matrix came out.

This seems pretty clear cut, pay that woman the money she deserves and don't do anything so stupid again.

    Ebay:
Well, the problem is, she's not getting the money. They are not buying HER products, but one's made by someone else. She designed it, she got a copyright for it, but she's not making the ones from the movie. So, yeah, I'd complain too.

I don't feel that what she's asking is a rediculous amount, like most of these cases. She should win. :stick:  Bad Dreamworks, bad!

I'd guess a settlement/payoff, not necessarlity the full amount, will be happening soon.
