Well, I finally got around to translating the second installment of the Henkei Manga into English. As before, I don't have a scanner, and since buying one simply to scan a 7 page manga makes no sense at all, I've had to take digital pictures of the manga, itself. However, the purpose of my work is not to create pristine copies of the manga but rather to merely provide an English accompaniment to those Henkei Astrotrain owners, who would otherwise be unable to understand the Japanese text. I decided to go with a different route with Manga 2, opting for one page per shot as opposed to the 2 pages per shot with the work that I did on the first Henkei Manga. I am really not liking the Autobots in this series. Sure, it's a toy pack-in manga, so expectations are low, but the writing is really crap... and the Autobot's dialogue is really difficult to read. Not due to difficulty linguistically, but more so because they're written painfully like a bunch of saps with no real character or personality. The manga seems to be too "human-centric." Mind you, there's no real human cast like other series, but it seems to be a lot of "Decepticons attack - Must save humans." I would have preferred more Robot on Robot fighting with humans being more as incidental by-standers and not the main focus. That said, the Decepticons have lots of personality to them, and Astrotrain in all his dickery was fun to read/translate. Also interesting how he manages to stick it to all the Autobots by himself. Pretty good for a deluxe toy.
