It had some good points, a couple of cool designs, but I found it hugely inconsistent and overall wasn't too impressed.

If the idea of 19th century transformers and Mark Twain fighting Ravage appeals to you though, you might want to give it a shot.

It's not bad, but not incredible. The concept behind it all, IMO, is stronger than the actual series.

It's a fantastic concept and a lot of the designs featured are incredible. However, the ending is horrible IMO.

I am willing to give it a shot for the concept and designs, and in preparation for Infestation 2.

Aernaroth - I'm not sure if you were being serious, but the thought of Mark Twain fighting Ravage does sound appealing!

A promising series, killed in its cradle by a terribly abrupt ending. The story should've been an epic-length tale spanning at least twenty issues.

I remember reading it about 4 years, I found it a pretty interesting comic in how they went with that concept. But that ending was just so anti-climactic and questionable.

I felt the story wasn't good, but not bad either, but the designs are some of my favourites in the franchise ever

Quite under-rated and oft-forgotten. It's not a classic by any means, but is pretty good.

You'll have to read and find out, but if you think that's really cool, you might really like HoS.

I think they're re releasing Hearts of Steel because the Infestation 2 storyline for Transformers will build on the HoS era. I more look forward to Infestation 2 because Optimus will be revived. We didn't see much of him in evolutions.

It sucks. Best part is the beginning, all the Transformers have Beast modes that are more interesting than the locomotive designs.

If you want to pick up a period piece, I recommend Dreamwave's G.I.Joe vs Transformers

Two questions: 1) Would a non-G.I. Joe fan appreciate that series? 2) Is there any way to pick up all / some of the Dreamwave comics for a reasonable price?

Has someone tried to sell you the Dreamwave comics for an unreasonable price. They can't be worth much. GI Joe Transformers isn't that great.

I looked on eBay (probably not the best place) and there wasn't really a good way to get all the comics without paying a lot for individual issues or multiple lots and shipping. I have only bought trades and the IDW collection books off of amazon with free shipping, so I am used to getting comics for a relatively cheap price.

I've met someone at the California Comic Con (not SDCC) who sold me a lot of the old Marvel G1 stuff for a dollar each and the Dreamwave comics for 25 cents cents.

I found the concept art for HOS more interesting then the story itself.
