Just saw this ad in my Micron Legend toy catalog:

I was wondering if anybody had played this game and what everyone's opinion regarding it's quality is. Also does anyone know why it was never released in the U.S.?

I actually liked it, granted I like bad campy games that pander to my childhood.

Apparantly the intro CG is the only good thing about it.

    :sly:  Whoa, freaky bro.

Nah, to each their own. But the controls in that game are akin to making origami out of an obese womans rolls/flab.

(Note- The above makes no sense)

It's been almost universally panned as awful by everyone who has played it. About the most optimistic anyone has come up with have been similar to Shin's take, basically "I liked it, not because it was a good game, but because it appealed to my nostalgia".

I bought it when it was first released (had my PS2 deregioned just so I could play it).

I wouldn't say it's as "God Awful" as some drama queens make it out to be, but I wouldn't call it a very good game, either. It was a pretty "meh" licensed game that would definately be worth a rent (if it had actually been released outside of Japan) but not worth the price I paid for it.

Seeing all those G1 characters in CG format and being able to play as them is the main draw of the title. The voice-acting in the cut scenes is only marginally better than the Star TV dub of Headmasters.

It's an average game, all around. Not "OMG teh Antychwyst!11!11!" like some people squeal, but not really worth importing unless you can get it at retail value or less.

It's mediocre at best. If you still want it anyway, you're in at least some luck though. The voices are all in English, and there's an option to display all of the game's text in English as well.
