We've already seen that takara may be doing this. But should hasbro? Disney and hasbro have worked together in the past on toys, so this isn't a far reach. Plus if Hasbro can't get stores to order them, or merge all there crossovers line into just one line, they could make this a disney store exclusive. Personally, I say heck yes! Two simple reasons why. 1. Stitch - He deserves a Transformer more than any Star Wars or Marvel Character does. 2. Tron - The vehicles and costumes in this inspired generations of designs and artwork. They need plastic representations. Especially the Light Cycles and Tanks.
Why not? You can't tell me Tron vehicle transformers are a horrid idea. Though I may agree if it's pure mickey, donald, apu, and genie. The thread in the News/Rumors area is about TomyTakara doing it. This is an opinion based thread on what if hasbro decided to do it, and why or why not in your eyes, and who you would like to see if you do like the idea.
I can only imagine a Sora with a Gummy Ship alt mode. I'd buy it in a heartbeat...even if It sucks as much as it sounds.
Kingdom hearts would be interesting, but they'd have to get the okay from Square for those as opposed to just disney. They'd still be interesting. Cloud, Sephiroth, and more. I will concede I'll pass on all mickeys till he has a keyblade though. xD Tron lightcycles I'm all primed for though, especially if they manage to make them transform in similiar fashion to the movie. At least how they 'sit' in it to form. Not to mention if they did the ship from "Flight of the navigator". I'd be all over that one too. So many of us focus on "Mickey Mouse" disney, and Kingdom Hearts, but what about some of their other licenses that could be tapped? Like Flight of the Navigator, Tron, The Black Hole, Atlantis, The cat from outer space, Treasure Planet, Still not quite Human, Sky High, and uh, anything else I can't think of. ^^;; I'd be all over getting the bus driver from Sky High if he turns into a school bus. xD Again, why? I get the fact you don't like the idea, but could you express why you don't so we can include you in this by suggesting non overtly cartoony characters that could work to your preference? Like the movies I suggested above?
Don't really mind one way or the other. If the toys are good, great. They're a way to get kids interested in TFs, and might provide that long-elusive girls TF line. If the toys are junk, I won't buy them.
The witch from sleeping beauty I'd buy in a heart beat if she turned into her massive dragon self in the movie. That scene was animation cinematic history of its day!
Well some romantic at heart transformer fans may appreciate cinderella's carriage as a transformer if a Universe 2.0 arcee is made, or other fembots. Could come in handy to get a girlfriend or spouse more involved, or even other ideas for the fan to use it for to get their attention.
I believe that if cross-overs are coming, then it'd be mainly the Disney icons like Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Goofy that get the treatment. Expecting other properties like Tron or Cinderella is wishful thinking. This is Disney after all. They destroy all storylines they get a hold of, so expect to see singing Wheelies everywhere.
The reasons why I don't like Crossovers figures (any brand) 1.) Terrible robot designs. 2.) Vehicle mode is the main focus, and if the vehicle sucks, we get screwed. 3.) Too expensive for crappy designs. Now, if they made a Disney Crossovers figure, it would most likely be Mickey to begin with, and what the hell would he transform into? For that matter, how about Donald? Goofy? Pluto? (you get the idea...) Now, why can't we have sensible Crossovers figures such as G.I. Joe? I see posts here and there wanting G.I. Joe/Cobra vehicles that turn into Autobots and Decepticons. It's not a bad idea, honestly. Not to mention, some of the designs used in the crossover comics a few years back, would probably make for some nice figures, plus it would be a hell of a fanwank. Those...would be sensible. I can even swallow the Star Wars idea. (even though it sucks) I can tolerate (considerably) the Marvel figures. Disney? Really? I only have a few ideas that might possibly fly... 1.) Darkwing Duck transforms into his jet. (That would be AWESOME.) 2.) Baloo transforms into the Sea Duck. (Shit yes.) 3.) Taurus Bulba (Darkwing Duck villain) transforms into his bull's head ship o' doom. 4.) Gizmoduck transforms into....God knows what. (He had like a bunch of different things flying out of him at any given time...) Beyond that, the Disney Crossovers sounds absolutely ridiculous. However, if they're designing these, it's an indication that there's actually a market out there for these goofy ass things. (This idea specifically, bokkles ze mind. Crossovers alone, have a market apparently, that's a given. But these? REALLY?) I wonder who will buy them? I just think Crossovers could've been handled better all around, really. I will admit that Marvel's Crossovers are showing promise of heading in the right direction. (Hulk as a tank? Makes sense. Iron Man as a jet? Also makes sense.) Darth Vader turning into the Death Star? Not so much. (Shoulda been The Emperor.) Just..no. Bad idea. Mmmkay?
