Um, I think so. Windblade was the fan created character - in regards to the focus of this article, the fans voted that the character be female. I don't think the popularity of the 2007 film imported lots of new fans who would've voted.
As for Combiner Wars being for adults... that's debatable. The tone is dark but not nuanced. And the story makes little sense - Windblade goes from peace loving city speaker to bloodthirsty murderer excited to work with Megatron in a snap? There aren't many G1 cartoon episodes wtih characterization this weak.

All it takes is one look at one of Combiner Wars's actual episodes to prove that everything they say in these interviews about how the series is "complex" and "nuanced" and "mature" is absolutely, 100%, patently false. These guys are either delusional, willfully ignorant of what they've made, or Sean Murray-level liars (by Sean Murray I mean the developer of No Man's Sky, not the actor).
