I don't mind the size of the pages. I think I preferred it actually.

I've got mine, but I haven't scoured it yet. Heard there are some possible reproduction problems and a messed up page in the wrong spot...

The matte paper (and shrunk pages) does tend to make contrast/details a little murky, but I didn't really buy this for the comics, mad as that sounds... The 30 odd pages of background info is a great insight into this era; and having the stories compiled in a nice big TPB like this is certainly handy. Still well worth getting, especially if any of the UK stuff is new to you.

 

No, that's not mad at all- I buy them largely for the same reasons.

 

Glad I'm not the only one, lol! Loved the foreword. And there's stacks of Furman commentary about the writing. Good to hear from Geoff Senior too. It's all very fascinating.

I'm new to these new reissue comics. I've recently gotten the Vol 1 and 2 US releases. Hae been thinking about getting the UK versions, are they completely different stories than the US versions?

 

Different and for the most part, better!

 

Yes. The US stories are not reprinted in the UK book so you won't get the same story twice. The UK stories were made to fit in with the events in the US stories, so there are elements introduced in the US stories that appear in the UK book.
If you enjoyed the old Marvel comics in the US books you would probably enjoy the UK ones too. The stories in the first book are avarage/decent for the most part but there will be some really great gems in the later books.

 

Exactly right. The next couple of books will rock your socks off.

 

My copy is like this too. Has IDW made any other mistakes like this before? How likely is it that they will fix this, if I wait several months and then buy another copy?

 

i was new too. ive been reading the usa stuff and enjoying the first 2 idw reprint tpb recently.

now i decided to take the uk plunge and i have to say the art and stories are even BETTER and im not even half way through the first uk tpb. i eagerly await the rest of this uk series.  

buy them, you'll like them.
