Not adjusting for prices, Transformers is ranked 36 in terms of all time highest movie grosses worldwide. Domestically, it is the 26th biggest money-maker, 105th with inflation taken into account (data from Box Office Mojo). And if you say great movies don't do this well, that is pretty subjective obviously, but among the top 25 all time money makers in the U.S. adjusted are Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, ET, Jaws, Snow White, the Sting, the Graduate, the Godfather. . .most would probably consider these better than average flicks.

In order to really find out how "well" the movie did, though, you need to take into account promotional costs, and in terms of factors that determine how quickly a sequel will be made, add in merchandising revenues.

The last I saw, it was ahead of Harry Potter! That's surprising, but then again, HP hasn't been out as long and may still catch up. I doubt I'll see it again in the theater, but I guarantee that I'll be getting the DVD when it comes out!

Hopefully this will allow for a bigger budget and more screen times for the robots next movie. I'd love seens with the Decpticons plotting revenge.

Movies often blow through the first-run theaters pretty quickly anymore. I think Transformers going pretty strong for over a month is a decent feat these days.

yup, i've seen it 5X. And I brought different people most of the time. To make it to the top 20 US BO, it has to beat 2 POTC sequel, 2 star wars sequel, a harry potter movie and Independence day. This would be a quite an accomplishment for a non-sequel, and we're not really far off.

Well, I suppose that this great news will justify the sequel! Carry on, Paramount...

Save him for the 3 film!

Oh on the last part I know what yahy mean! That was priceless!

Well now we know which of you to blame for the fact that Micheal Bay will be allowed to continue to make movies instead of being sent back to making commercials where he belongs :cry

In our theaters, I'd say the culprit was Hot Rod. Which makes even less sense.
