Sounds good to me. I have the HD-DVD version, and 3 DVD versions, but I can't wait to get this one on Blu-Ray too!

They should all come packed with a handwritten note that says, "Told you so. Love, Michael Bay"

Should have happened a while ago. However, now that even Toshiba has given up on HD DVD, the movie industry's not going to stick around on ship that's already sunk. Well, I'm not going to re-buy it when I already own it on DVD and it's their fault for dropping Blu-ray support in the first place. At least now we have a single HD format.

My Dad's DVD player can kick your Dad's DVD player's ass.

Good, this gives me another reason to buy a PS3.

I only bought the regular DVD for the metal box anyway. Saw this one coming a mile away; it was, and still is, only a matter of the release date. I am still thankful though. ^_^

You don't need to buy a Blu Ray player. Even if it has won the high def dvd wars, it's still a very niche market compared to regular dvds. These are only for people willing to spend a ton of money on huge tvs and about $500 for a special dvd player that lets them see the same exact movie with slightly brighter colors. Blu Ray will probably never replace conventional dvd.

If anything, the real future is in direct download, and even that will take years to become the main format for home video.

Cool. Now all I need is a Blu-ray player and an HDTV.

Bearing in mind the 1986 animated movie is out here on Blu-Ray courtesy of Metrodome, could this be the same?

As for people wandering what all the fuss is about - ask your local electronics store to *CORRECTLY* set up a PS3 through HDMI to a full 1080P capable telly and get them to put on one of the better encoded Blu-rays (Ratatouille, Cars, Casino Royale, or Spider-Man 3 for instance) and compare the playback to a dvd player playing back through s similar TV. You will probably start saving the second you put your eyes back in your sockets. Its not just brighter colours - its the much higher resolution, assuming the source is up to it, that makes the difference. Stuff recorded originally in 1080P looks stunning. Discs such as Independance Day and Final Fantasy: Spirits Within loo awful as you can see the film grain in the same manner as comparing a blown up 35mm photographic print from an old SLR to a digital image from a 10MP Digital camera.

What I wont be doing is buying Blu-Rays to replace DVDs unless the original source is up to being viewed in 1080P properly as it seems the PS3 is so good at uprating normal DVDs that it creates an irrelvance for any blu-rays that are simply older footage "blown up". However I am looking forward to seeing things like the new HD remastered versions of the original Star Trek TV show, and if season 6 of Smallville is anything to go by (a great Blu-Ray encoding BTW) season 7 will also be a must buy (especially as the stories are better.). Shame Blu-Ray can't re-write TransFormers so that Jazz isn't an idiot with such a lack of skill that Megatron could touch him let alone pick him up and tear him in two. Read the tech-specs on the characters before finalising the script next time people! :)  lol

I'll confirm this one on a friend of mine that works at Circuit City. He was looking for the HD DVD version for me today. It will retail 34.99. Even though these discs have a butt load of space, it still requires 2 discs

This could always be for the 1986 movie.
