true, but i really don't think that's what weas meant here... (but it couold be...) there was a mini series like that called Edens trail where it was stitched on the short side and "widescreen"... but i still think they were just using it as a buzzword...

This is one of those rumors that I never would have thought would come true...but I'm very interested to see if they can pull it off without resorting to cliché/cheese. The fact that they're touting it as "in-continuity" gives me hope.

I'm also happy that they are going with Marvel's artists/production values (no slight on IDW, just want to see something done up "Big Two" style). And I'm stoked about the pricing, of course. 25% off FTW! :D

I wonder what other books Stuart Moore has worked on? The name sounds vaguely familiar...

I'll be getting this. I'm glad they didn't decide the villians would be Unicron and Galactus (although I'd accept that as a sequel). Kind of funny that something like this wouldn't even be considered in the days when Marvel had the rights to Transformers comics, at least after the first few issues, when we were supposed to forget Spider-Man ever guest starred.
I wonder if they'll have a line about Spider-Man remembering these guys.

This will be awesome...I've always been both a big time Marvel comic fan and Transformers fan. It'll be great to see the interaction between the two groups again...I would lean be even happier if Marvel got back the rights to writing the Transformer comic books...my favorite run of the Transformer comics are still the originals..however corny they may be.

w00t! I'm psyched for this, especially since its a mini-series. The standard graphic novel crossovers are just too short. By the time everything is set up, it's time to wrap it up. So...YAY for better pacing!

Hopefully I'll remember to add it to my reserve when I hit the comic shop tomorrow. Er...today.

waitaminute...with the way you phrased that, it sounds like this is an ongoing series or something.

I thought it was a 4-issue miniseries...which is really about the same length as a "standard graphic novel crossover."

With a 4 issue miniseries, I really think we're going to be getting something that's still pretty fast-paced. Then again, Batman Year One was well paced, and that was only 4 standard-sized issues, so anything can happen. :)

(Random, random comment: I've always wanted to see a JLA/Transformers crossover. I think Superman and Optimus Prime would get along great, Batman and Depth Charge would get along well, and Megatron would fit right in with either Ra's Al Ghul or Darkseid.)

I was thinking the same thing.
I have been waiting for this crossover since I first saw issue 3 of the Marvel comic.
Then all traces of the standard Marvel Universe disappeared from the Transformers books.
UNTIL... Circuit Breaker shows up in one panel of Secret Wars II.
I was hopeful again. Except then there was nothing.

UNTIL... The CG Spiderman jumped onto the Marvel logo at the end of the cartoons in season 3. (I was mentally grasping at straws.) But nothing happened.

UNTIL... A human sized Death's Head showed up in the main Marvel continuity.
    Again nothing happened.

    UNTIL!!! :lol
(Still, it is incredibly ironic that Marvel never did this when they had the license.)

The storylines in those books tend to be large scale and "epic". In fact, DC/Wildstorm was in the habit of frequently using the "widescreen" buzzword in solicitations for The Authority a year or two ago.

So yeah, I think it's just a buzzword here, too.

Last I heard, its because apparently this is supposed to be an out-of-continuity Avengers crossover with IDW's flagship Transformers (Infiltration, Escalation ect) title. Of course, G1 is the most recognisable continuity and visual style of TFs for the target market this comic book is aimed at.

For some reason the Marvel artist didn't use EJ Su's designs, assuming this is indeed supposed to be set within IDW's G1.
