Over in the Toy Discussions board, W-P38 showed us that a couple of G1 Shockwaves appeared as set pieces in James cameron's Aliens. You can see it here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...-toy-featured-james-camerons-aliens-film.html

This made me think - it would be great if we could all post instances of Transformers toys, images, and references that appeared in non-Transformers films. It would be great to remember ones we've forgotten, or discover ones we never knew about.

The first one I'll throw in is in Spaceballs. When Yogurt talks about "merchandising" he shows various Spaceballs branded products. When he shows the Spaceballs coloring book, Optimus Prime can be seen clearly on the cover. Also, the Spaceballs lunchbox is the 1986 G1 lunchbox with the 1986 box art graphic.

    What do you remember?

The protagonist in Disney's Flight of The Navigator is given some transformers to play with (Cyclonus IIRC).

In "The 40 Year Old Virgin" the main character has several G1 figures.

There's an episode of Fresh Prince where Geoffrey's previously unknown son comes to visit. Geoffrey laments about how he wasn't able to buy him toys growing up and shows Uncle Phil some kids toys, hoping it will make up for lost time with his kid. However, Will snatches them-- the action figures happen to be from Beast Wars. I'll try to find the clip/ep.

edit: someone had the quote listed here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0583043/

FotN was released in summer 1986, released the week before TFTM, in fact... I remember because I was dragged to see it and not allowed to see TFTM... I resented FotN for years because of that, so it had to have been shot in mid-late 1985, so its more likely that it featured toys from the '85 line

The Christmas episode of Raising Faith...or Hope whatever it is shows the main character as a kid sitting around a pile of Transformers his dad is scalping.

In the opening scence of "Kicking it Old School", where it shows a panning shot of the kid's shelf, there are several g1 figures there. There was also an episode of Family Guy where Stewie is playing with some figures and he addresses Starscream by name. The toy looked like a yellow Energon Starscream

In one episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" there's part of RID Ultra Magnus on the shelf in the background in the living room.

Transformers, along with Gundams and other mechs can often be seen in Japan's excellent live-action j-drama series Sexy Voice and Robo

There have been several previous threads on this topic:

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...309085-transformers-mentions-wider-media.html

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...98601-movies-have-g1-toys-them-somewhere.html

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-general-discussion/113907-transformers-cameos.html

And I'm not going to bother digging up all the multiple threads for multiple TF references on Scrubs, Family Guy, & Robot Chicken.

I also just posted one recently about a TF toy cameo in the feature film "The Sentinel":

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...n/356410-tf-toy-cameo-2006-film-sentinel.html

Still trying to figure out how to do a screencap for it.

I started a thread about that one too:

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-general-discussion/168749-g1-toys-kickin-old-skool.html

A few attempts have been made at collecting a comprehensive listing of TF pop culture references, but we lost one of them when Yahoo killed Geocities and the other two haven't been updated in years:

    - The original OCD TF fan Zobovor has a very comprehensive list on his site, but it hasn't been updated since 2004:

    Transformers Pop Culture References

    - Botcollector also has a decent collection of TF pop culture references, but I'd guess the page hasn't been updated since 2003:

    Transformers references in real life
