Animated and G1 are different continuities, the two Ratchets are different characters.

Ditto with everyone else. It has no connection to G1. It's a reboot of Transformers on TV. Like a remake.

    No.

Coming back from the dead is nothing new for Transformers anyway.

But if you were to go into the Japanese continuity, Animated Ratchet is, in fact, the same character as the green hummer dude who likes to check out humans' pheromone levels.

yeah but if you watch closely in the 1st episode as it starts they talk about G1 The Great War, and then you see Ratchet saying thats a load of crap the Great War ended centuries ago and then Prime goes yeah but you were there Ratchet what where the Decepticons really like? and he replies trust me kid you dont wanna know, its still confusing.

They're not talking about the G1 war. They just used the old cartoon footage as a nod to the fans.

If anything, think of the cartoon they're watching as a documentary or feature film made about the great war, rather than real footage from the war.

In Animated, the Great War plays out completely differently than in G1, as we find out throughout the series.

No. This got messed up at some point. Takara said it was movie continuity, but nothing in the japanese dubbed version puts it in movie continuity. The dub is extremely faithful to the source material.

Yeah, I think the video footage in the pilot episode made a lot of people think this was the same continuity, when really all it was intended for was a bit of a (wait for it)....fan wank.

    No they dont.

You obviously didnt listen as "CLOSLY" as you profess.

In the first episode they talk about "A" Great War.....but not "THE" Great War of G1.

The Great War of Animated was won by the Autobots over 200 years before they ever came to Earth.

The Great War of G1 wasnt won till well after they came to Earth.

Not if you pay attention to the dialog.
