Transformers #12 NYCC Cover - Transformers News
I don't think even this could get me to buy On Going.
Transformers meets Ginyu Force
but seriously - pass
Actually that cover is a homage to The Uncanny X-Men #1. I think it's a pretty cool cover since it plays into its Marvel roots.
Yup, and it's fantastic!!
The G.I. Joe cover is an homage to Apocalypse Now:
Transformers cover homage > GI JOE cover homage.
Wow. Are Brainstorm and First Aid actually in the comic? I stopped buying at AHM...
Kinda underwhelmed by the Transformers cover. It's a decent enough homage. One thing bothers me though. If you're going to mimic an iconic cover, at least have equally iconic corresponding characters. Whys is the Cyclops role Prowl and not Prime? Why is it Bombshell and not Megatron? Why put a First aid in an overly feminine pose when you have female characters that could have easily plugged it.
I know the answer is going to be that these are the characters in the comic. The homage itself seems kind of underwhelming when the right character mix would have been a home run.
Yeah, I am guessing these characters are the focus of this issue. Perhaps. Even if they're not, don't you think we've seen enough of Optimus Prime and Megatron on covers?
Also, Optimus Prime would more likely fulfill Xavier's role.
The reason we have chosen these specific characters to grace the covers is because they were all voiced by legendary voice actor Michael Bell who will be joining us at the convention, signing comics, figures, DVDs etc...
Bombshell = Magneto?
And who is being all effeminate in the cover, is that First Aid? Tough luck making him pose like Jean Grey.
Cool Uncanny X-men hommage.
First Aid looks like he's dancing. Or posing on a runway.
I know we were going with the Michael Bell homage there, but couldn't we have gotten Arcee to be Jean Grey? Or any of the other fembots?
Or given him a more masculine pose?
EDIT: 2nd cover, what's Nick Fury doing on there?
Makes sense for the characters chosen, but not the cover chosen to mimic.
I love that ongoing cover. Going to have to track that one down.
That's kind of a crappily done homage... so much empty space left around the logo. They could have easily made it look more like the real cover.
Though like others, I am not sure WHY they are swiping this cover... weird.
That is an awesome cover. X-men + Transformers = awesomeness.
Also know this guys that Micheal Bell once voiced Cyclops in Pryde of the X-Men. the cover makes sense to me.
First Aid looks like he's disco dancing or trying to immitate John Inman. Overall its a very odd cover design.
Optimus Prime and Megatron are never even in the Transformers comics.
That part I can't answer. I'm assuming they just thought it would be cool, draw in some other non-TF folks. I think they are both cool.
Separate names with a comma.
