Kup's a pretender, didn't see that coming. Can't wait for this issue.

I disagree. This is the explanation we've wanted all this time.

What did you want done differently?

Continuity taken into account from the start would have been nice. Or perhaps you didn't notice the word "finally" in my post.

I will say Kup is looking to be handled a lot better than Sunstreaker.

And yes......it has to be the CIGAR!

Okay. I thought you were saying this five page preview was fail when you actually meant it was McCarthy's fail.

While I agree, I suppose there's nothing else to be done. Considering, the damage is done. Do we scrap and restart or salvage?

Personally, I'm intrigued. I don't think the 'cigar' is his personality component or cortex--I can't image something that can be lost or removed from him would be something as important as his old mind. That's all probably internal. The cigar could be some kind of life support unit. Something that, if lost, can be replaced if need be. I'll be interested in finding out what it does when the issue comes out.

I've rather enjoyed the AHM series, even tho the CODA add-on's have been weak. I likes Sunstreaker's story- his sad, sad story.

Yowza! I can't wait to read this. I love the fact that these comics don't just focus on the original core of G1 characters. There is a whole planet full of Autobots to explore.

Colour me intrigued. Always liked Roche's work and it's nice to finally see some sort of coherent bridge between -ation and the AHM mess.

He claims to have read and been a fan of everything that came before though there was little evidence of that and still isn't. I don't blame him though, I blame IDW's editors for thinking they could dump continuity without upsetting the long term readers, using the words 'soft reboot' or 'jumping on point'... Anyway, what's done is done.

I'm loving it so far, nice to see Brainstorm there and to have an issue of IDW's output I'm actually looking forward to.

Despite the hysterical knee-jerk responses from the hate brigade...

...this looks interesting. There were certainly some gaps between Furman and McCarthy... some deliberate, some just because McCarthy clearly didn't want to follow too closely in Furman's footsteps (which I can respect). I expected most of those to get plugged up as things progressed, so I'm happy to see us moving along. I'm a firm believer in the "anime style" approach to sci-fi storytelling... throw people into your world, and then let the answers and explanations trickle in gradually, so you're always learning something new. Broad, strictly chronological exposition is such a dull way to kill a story.

I like Nick Roche's writing from what I've seen so far (more than his artwork, in fact). He has a nice grasp of character... I wonder why he doesn't get more writing gigs from IDW?

Bingo. Anything with Nick's artwork automatically veers away from fail territory IMO; unfortunately, AHM should have been written with what came before it taken into account from the VERY beginning, instead of still having to bolt on explanations over a year's worth of issues later. McCarthy did an awful job IMO, and they're still having to patch things up.
