Transformers: AHM #15 Preview...
Check it out...
So it takes Nick Roche himself to clean up the mess.
Looking to be an actually good read from the AHM series. Really nice to see Roche's art again for Kup - some actual continuity there for IDW.
I don't see how explaining why Kup's still alive retroactively fixes the whole mess. Heck, this is probably the first story in the Coda issues that actually tries to build any sort of bridge between the Furman and McCarthy years. Neither of the last two issues provided ANY sort of damage control.
interesting... i want to see perceptor's reason for changing too.
Did Roche did the art for the kup spotlight? The preview art here > Kup spotlight
Have you read Spotlight: Drift? Perceptor was nearly killed in a close-range explosion.
Oooh. I like. Hopefully this one won't disappoint.
Well, Kup never died in his Spotlight, he was just locked off in stasis while the Autobots tried to figure out what to do with him. The intent of this book is to explain why Kup showed up totally sane in AHM (though the real-world explanation is, McCarthy didn't write Kup with Roche's Spotlight or the previous continuity in mind.)
As for the last two Codas, issue 14's Sunstreaker story insulted my intelligence by retconning a pivitol scene to fit McCarthy's depiction of Sunstreaker in AHM.
yes i have. i want to know why they made him a sniper, why he's not his old self.
was that... chromedome? or highbrow?
15 issues in and finally desperately retconning more things to fit in? And so the fail continues...
i don't mind mccarthy altering the sunstreaker story to fit the traitor arc, i found it a pretty interesting. since i don't like the idea of human headmasters--it's kinda grotesque, it didn't work for g1 season 4, but works better for scorponok than autobots--killing off both characters was satisfyingly dark. i think furman himself said in an interview he purposefully chose SS b/c he was so vain, and had some plans for exploring the concept, but mccarthy got the reins and that's how that story goes.
as for some of the other glaring continuity issues, i agree ahm should've cleared it up in 1-12 since the first 5 issues were kinda filler. i'm not a big fan of jumping around in the timeline, give me one continuous story rather than tease at stuff to have it cleared up later.
does anyone actually know if mccarthy read the -ation series before he started the ahm project? if he didn't, damn him for not respecting the fanbase and furman's line. altho maybe it was an order from idw: dont read what came before and start anew, oh wait, let's actually tie this in. either way, the fancy footwork (i'm looking at you, ahm 13-16, maximum dinobots) could've been avoided. while i largely enjoyed ahm, i'm looking forward to the stability of one continuous line (hopefully scattered with the spotlights) regardless of the artistic direction to tie g1 and movie styles together. i don't mind it, and hey, at least it's better than the art in tales of the fallen...
Looks pretty good to me. I like the idea of Kup's new body being a Pretender. Very interesting.
kup's body is a Pretender. awsome
lmao the pretender tech is inside Kup's cigar thing.
and as for perceptor, he wasn't blownup, he was shot at point blank range right through his head, hence why he he just acts like a machine now rather than a scientist.
once reading the Drift spotlight it was pretty easy to imagine how he went from perceptor to sniper for me.
My mistake, thanks for the correction. Drift isn't a character I give much of a rip about, so I haven't exactly re-read his comic to death. He did save Perceptor's life though, and upon looking it up, Perceptor was shot in the chest. I'd guess if I was shot I'd seek a more long-range role too.
why do I get the feeling that whats left of the old kup body is infact his cigar... well its a unique idea I'll give 'em that
Or the antenna for his remote control, of course.
