AEC - Anything from Armada, Energon or Cybertron

CHUG - Extremely shit abbreviation for anything from the Classics, Universe, Generations or Henkei lines.

HtfD - Hunt for the Decepticons, what the new movie toys are generally getting called (even though they should correctly be labelled Autobot Alliance)

    FP - FansProject or Funpub.

    ill add one more:

AFA = Action Figure Authority, a toy rating service that for a fee will grade your figure and put it in a Plexiglas box.

I Personally don't care for the AFA or figures graded by them but some collectors will pay big bucks for them.

unfortunately there are fake AFAed figure out there so if you go after them be very careful.

The CHUG acronym has grown on me. A lot of people have adopted it when discussing the toys in question. It's at least better than typing out Classics/Henkei/Universe 2.0/Generations every fucking time.

Grammar Trivia: Acronyms must form a word from their initial letters.

For example, scuba is an acronym. It stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, but it also forms a pronounceable word. Something like FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation, of course) isn't an acronym because "fbi" isn't a word. In this case, FBI is simple an abbreviation.

In Transformers terms, CHUG (Classics/Henkei/Universe 2.0/Generations) is an acronym, but ROTF (Revenge of the Fallen) is an abbreviation.

    The more you know!

In relation to toy lines you can also add to the list:
    • MP: Masterpiece
    • WFC: War for Cybertron
    • TFAJ or JTFA: Japanese Transformers Animated
    • G1: Generation 1
    • G2: Generation 2
    • MM: MicroMasters or Mighty Muggs (use your judgment)
    • TFCC: Transformers Collector's Club
    • Tit: Titaniums
    • HM: Head Master
    • LD: Lucky Draw
    • RM: Robot Masters
    • BT: Binaltech
    • KP: Kiss Play
    • SG: Shattered Glass
    • WST: World's Smallest Transformers
    • HoC: Heroes of Cybertron
    • SWTF: Star Wars Transformers
    • KO: Knock Off
    • Repro: Reproduction
    • TRU: Toy R Us (usually in relation to a store exclusive)
    • WM: Wal-Mart (usually in relation to a store exclusive)
    • BBTS: Big Bad Toy Store (usually refers to the store but with them getting their own exclusive it can also reference a toy now)
    • SS: Starscream
    • TC: Thundercracker
    • SW: Skywarp
    • RJ: Ramjet
    • HA: Human Alliance
    • TiK: Th0r4z1n3 is King :confused2
That's all I can think of right now off the top of my head. I've noticed that our sister site ToyArk has sticky for just such things, albeit a bit more generalized, but maybe someone should take the time to make a one for the newer users on here that is more TF related. I would be more than happy to do it, but I don't have "sticky" power LOL

    General Reference Guide for Collectors

    Oh yea... TF: Transformer

and OP usually stands for "Original Poster" not Optimus Prime, this used to throw me off LOL
I must admit that the H in CHUG has thrown me until I read this :D

    Glad I found this thread....

what's the difference between G1 and what you guys refer to as CHUGS? I'm an 80's Me-Generation guy and have always referred to the toys that I grew up with from the original cartoon as G1.

Is that not the case now?

Good question to ask when starting out collecting again. G1 are all the original TFs from 1984 - early 90s that you remember in stores from your childhood. CHUG are the modern iterations of these beloved (mostly-)G1 characters made in the modern TF lines called (you guessed it): Classics, Universe, Henkei, and now Generations over the last 5? years that have the same aesthetic based on the G1(mostly, except BW Dinobot & Cheetor) cartoon... with lost of modern engineering help: great head sculpts, articulation, more complex transformations, etc...
