It's not likely to be made out of anything else.

Can someone explain how these work to me? I get the basics of CCGs, and someone showed me a pic of the POTC 3D CCG, but how does the building and puzzle aspect factor into the game?

Also, randomly packed = not cool. I'll be counting on my comic shop guy to help me out with these, maybe ask him to buy doubles off folks or something.

I tried follwing the instructions on a GI JOE CGC but got hopeflessly flustered and gave up.
These look pretty weird, but do fall into the "stick it in a drawer and forget about it" sort of Movie ephemera that I often end up buying in spite of myself.

I highly doubt it's cardboard. All the other 3d card games are made of credit card-type plastic.

If you could transform it by rearranging the pieces, I'd be down. But this is two different models and you swap one for the other. I'm no more interested in these than Attacktix. That means a pass.

Check that. It looks like you do transform it. Oh well, passing anyway.

Boy, I'm not sure about this one. On the one hand, I've always thought it'd be neat to try out a TF customizable card game. On the other hand, the fan-made ones I've seen look a lot more organized. I don't really have any interest in putting together little paper-slot models to play a CCG.

We'll see. I might try them.

It's not cardboard. It's Styrene. Credit card material, and about as thick.

From the little bit of detail we got there, it reminds me a bit of their GI Joe game. That said, while it's nifty that they kinda/sorta 'transform' by rearranging the pieces, they're still ugly as sin and dont really look like much if the one we have there is any example. Unless they can put more 3-d aspects into it, I'll pass.

Generally, they're mini's based games, except the mini's in question are made out of little bits of flat plastic and you assemble them. If you've seen any sort of mini's game in play, it should be a bit familiar. You use some sort of measuring device (Usually card lengths) to move pieces and measure range, and roll dice to inflict damage.

In many games of this sort, you actually remove pieces to represent damage taken, but that's about it as regards to the assembly mattering for game play.

Why make it 3D? What's wrong with just a regular CCG?

Is that Starscream in the picture being the jet?

If so, his colors look alot more in tone with G1 than the movie design.

    Weird...

You can't transform a playing card.

Besides, have you tired Pirates? It's great fun.
