I'd love to see where they get these numbers from. Not sure if it's the same, but I did a research paper how stadiums and sports teams are always said to bring money to a local economy. Usually, that's not the case and they end up taking money away, so like I said Im curious if these numbers are used for the sake of PR or are for real.

i'm sure there are many ways of calculating. one way of seeing it, TF3 pays City of Chicago permits for filming in general, using chicago in the movie, plus paying to close michigan avenue for 3 and a half days plus other locations of filming. paying Ryerson, old steel mill and now movie studio perse, to hold TF3 props and cars and what not. TF3 paying for food catering for their casts coming from local catering companies. plus the '200' jobs that are being provided i'm sure they are being paid. Insurance for property and personnel...my guesses.

I imagine Film set shoots are just like circus'. Once they leave town the jobs go with the film crew.

Yea even if it's totally spot on about the amount of money and the number of jobs the jobs are gone as soon as the filming moves on to the next location. So it's only really temporary jobs that will not put any real dent in the unemployment of the Chicago area. If it's like NASCAR events here then people will be taking those jobs as temporary part time second jobs.

Plus 20 million really isn't all that much money when you are talking about a city the size of Chicago. From what I could find on-line the city budget for this year is something like $6.2 billion.
