News Post: Transformers 3 Washington D.C Filming Plans – A Car Race
Fuck yeah, a car race.
Pushing back time? Changing plans at the last minute?
That's what I remember hearing for ROTF. If I recall correctly, it didn't work out.
Doesn't Washington understand the importance of TF3?
Bay has a lot of connections... He'll get the time he needs for it.
So we're gonna get an Optimus clone? Sweet!!!
Dang Park Service making Bay scale back his EsPloSions!
sounds about right..
but come September I'll be there
it would be total bogus if they let US film crew film at the Pyramids of Giza and NOT at a National Mall..total bogus. but Bay being Bay, I'm sure he'll find a way to do it. he doesnt take No for an answer
you got that right. seems to me the national park service saying we need more $$$ just like everything is in washington DC these days..
As someone who's spent her whole life living outside DC, & working in & out of it - ummm...
that gravel-based race wasn't gonna get approved. As for the night-time lighting, that probably isn't anywhere as much an issue. There have been other productions that have had chases thru the streets (not many), and lighting on sites (National Treasure, anyone?).
But if *anything* happened not-planned on the Mall - there are just too damn many monuments all around it to risk.
Shame on Bay's crew & Paramount for not thinking ahead.
Ah well - here's to hoping I may still be able to view some filming
Still waiting for a full on robot VS robot transforming car chase/race scene in these movies.
C'mon Bay, make it happen.
I find it amazing that the Transformer movies can get away with destroying a small part of Hoover Dam, then about half of a whole city, then a few naval vessels and the pyramids, yet they can't have a few cars racing around the national mall. I get the part about there being a risk about the monuments, but unlike the plot of ROTF, the guys actually doing all the movie magic aren't idiots. They know what they're doing, and tourism would really take a boost IMO if Optimus Prime was driving around the Lincon Memorial.
I was down there this weekend...drove past one of the Optimus Prime cabs on a trailer. I was driving across the 66/Const. Ave bridge when, all of a sudden, there's OPTIMUS FUCKING PRIME next to our mommie-mobile. Wifey was like "HOLY SHIT, LOOK." I'll see if I can grab some of the pictures she snapped...there wasn't much to them, just blurry pictures of the Prime cab.
Jeez, DC! Let them film whatever they want in the city! I grew up in DC so I'm excited that TF is filming there.
I want to see Megatron sit in Lincoln's chair.
Aww, i was hoping for photos :-(
The true definition of being a Transfan: Having something to moan about.
Different countries, officials, settings.
It's not like the area of the mall being discussed is loaded with monuments. The only one that comes to mind that would be near the discussed location is the Washington Monument which is still well away from the gravel paths in question. Pretty much all of the monuments are on other parts of the mall. There's plenty of room for a race scene to be filmed, especially considering it'll be done by professionals and nowhere near full speed.
That'd be awesome.
I hope Bat gets what he wants. I want to see an action sequence on the mall.
I wonder who will be racing. I hope they'll be able to get to film there.
