Do we REALLY need new G1 box sets? Rhino just did it not too long ago and it's still available pretty much everywhere.

Also, yes they could not get the audio for Scramble City, but why does this mean they could not put in subtitles?

I'm still anxious to see what the super special thing that got you guys so excited is, and where we can find it on the sets. Is it an easter egg?

Look at it this way: It's now a truly irreplacable set. :D

I got all the Rhino sets too, except for Beast Machines (stupid canada). But I expect Sony'll feature up G1 like they did the movie, so I might be swayed.

NOTE: Vangelus is always swayed by decent audio commentary.

Yes, we need them. Sony has the power and money to get ACTUAL extras on the sets. The BotCon documentaries were sort of interesting, and voice actor/writer interviews were cool, but wouldn't it be better to have real toy commercials from each season included, commentary tracks worth listening to, maybe some interesting documentaries behind the scenes on various things and extras that are a whole lot of fun, PLUS a better transfer with fixed errors and no screwed up audio?

And even if you won't be buying it, do we have to complain about the possibilities before we even know the details?

Have you looked lately? The Rhino sets have been virtually impossible to find at retail for well over a year now, and regularly go for $100+ each on ebay. With the upcoming movie and pent up demand, it's the perfect time to release new sets.

Have you actually watched the Widescreen version yet? - all the extras are great (fantastic even) but what I want to know most of all....... how is the video and audio quality?

The Rhyno release suffered from horrible amounts of pixilation and oddly morphed picture (example- see Unicron, who is not round; but kind of egg shaped- sqwashed). So I'm despirate to know if these issues have been avoided with this release.

    Video-
Is the picture quality clean all the way through - no pixilation?
    Is there any picture distortion?

    Audio-
Was there any changes to the audio?

    My first post!!

    Hello everyone!

I can't wait for this dvd. I wish they had audio on scramble city like the metrodome one will (plus zone!), but the rest of the extra's make up for it.

I wonder what toy commercials are on the dvd?

I hope they release headmasters, masterforce, and victory after G1.

I only ever got S1 of G1 since I didn't relaize that they were being discontinued, so I'll buy the Sony version so that all the packages look the same. If anyone wants Rhino's G1 S1 it will be on eBay October 16 or so next year, since I need to wait until I'm 18 for an eBay account.

I would like to know about the audio as well.
The Rhino DVD's 5.1 audio was blah...

Well, okay...I haven't checked in a while, admittedly, and it appears they've cooled a little, probably because of those Chinese tin sets that are like $40 for the whole series. They used to all top out over $100, but it appears for some inexplicable reason that the two Season 2 sets have settled down around $30-40. Season 1 I found a few places going for a bit more, maybe $40-50, and the Season 3 sets still holding at over $100 for sealed copies. Why S3 seems to be holding at a higher price, I have no idea. Maybe they made fewer of them since they came closer to the time Rhino lost the rights?
