Glad that the change was made.
"No, no, no, Guido, we told you, he's supposed to look like Thanos! Clean this up!"
Love the artwork!
Shame they didn't go with Galvatron destroying him.
The destroying makes more sense.
No it doesn't. This iteration of Galvatron is different from the others, and better for it. His is a mission of unification for the cybertronian race, and destroying his own troops doesn't really fall in line with that. His forgiveness toward the Sweep (with heavy overtones of 'this is your final chance) make him a greater character than mindlessly destroying his own men.
I like crazy Galvatron better. Healing someone with the Heart of Darkness? That'll never get you to Torkulon.
We've had more than 20 years to enjoy crazy Galvatron. I for one welcome this less than crazy Galvatron.
I haven't been keeping up on the comics, but having Galvatron start his own "new order" could make him more of a threat than ever.
Still prefer him crazy though.
This is what I expected to happen. It's kinda weird seeing a compassionate Galvatron.
The destruction is more in line with the classic take on Galvatron, however IDW's Galvatron has a very different personality, so it is out of character for him to do that.
It makes sense for idw's galvatron but I much prefer crazy Galvy as otherwise its just a more powerful megatron with a fancy new hat/crown...plus it gives cyclonus more interesting roles as 2nd in command.
I expected the alternate pages more than the ones we got. While I prefer the crazier Galvatron it was nice to be surprised for a change. Even if it was an 'out of character' surprise. I'm hoping we see some event in Chaos that turns him into the demented Galvatron we are more familiar with.
Guido's DeviantArt page shows alot more unused material from the IDW comics, including pages from the Ongoing #9 where the designs are still alot like Don's.
Haven't read #9 so I don't know how big a change this was...
It kind of annoys me that IDW said Guido had chosen to use the g1 designs and really they made him change it to g1 from the cannon designs implemented by don... wth? What is the point in that?
Softer side of Galvatron is nice, though I perfer a more brutal Galvatron I'm content to see where they go with this as long as Cyclonous stops being a punk and gets back to the way Furman started him earlier. Oh yeah Guido is the man cant wait to see him back on ongoing.
