IESB.net has posted an interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura regarding his role as producer of the upcoming G.I. Joe movie. However, just like the first movie he also has a hand in Transformers 2. Near the end of the interview, they ask him about the status of Transformers 2. Here you go:

So.....they're planning to start filming and such in June, yet there's no script and new cast to audition? Sounds like they're planning a bit too much since there doesn't seem to be a end to the strike anytime soon....

Didn't Jurassic Park 3 start shooting without a finalized script?

I'm not getting a good feeling about this...

It's nice to know things are moving along in other areas. After all, there's plenty of other things to take care of other than the story bit, too.

I don't know about Jurassic Park, but I do know Alien3 began filming without a finalized script. In fact, the final film is very different from the treatment from which they started working from.

Hope it doesn't happen with this movie.

I hope they cool thier jets a little before filming without a final script. Then again, it says expect, so if that writers strike isn't over, I don't see that date as feasible.

Have you ever seen the other "versions" of that movie. Definitely changes some of the story elements

Yeah this worries me a bit.

I think that it's pretty much a necessity for the sequel to be better than the first in order to be really great. They're at a great spot as the first movie was really good but nothing that can't be topped nor should it be all that difficult to.

I'd hate to see things done in haste to meet deadlines rather than seeing it done right.

What does Michael Bay need a script for? All he needs are explosions and slow motion shots. Scripts just get in the way of that.

They need to take things slow and not rush this. Setting a start date when there's no script yet worries me a little.

If they have a "good outline", that may be enoughto scout possible locations, and for ILM to start working on more character models, as well as updating the TF1 characters (Bee, Prime, etc).

But I too, worry a bit. Unless it's an outline that just needs dialogue, I've got a bad feeling about "character development" being even lighter than last round.

Oh I hope this is true but at the same time I'm really hoping that they do a good job.

By June SAG should be about ready to go on strike themselves, especially if the WGA hasn't resumed work by then, so maybe TF2 can start filming without a script or even actors!

Looks like there will be even more explosions and broken glass than the first one, impossible as that may seem...

Anybody given any thought that Bay might already have a script that he sat on from the first one and all this is a "smokescreen"?

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    AWESOME NEWS.

I thought they would start around that time, but now it's confirmed. I'm really glad they shoot the movie then, so that part II, much like part I, will also have many scenes with blue skies for that summer feeling.

Keep in mind that Bay lets his actors improv A LOT, thus even an outline will be enough for him to get some easier "yelling and running" shots done.

likely only referring to shooting scenes for panoramic shots that they use in transitions and such to highlight a location.. or do shoot some places to insert cgi bots

:lol , just like from the South Park episode, script content can be replaced by booms and crashes.
