Transformers 2 Production Designer on Board
    Source: ComingSoon.net November 7, 2007

It looks like a production designer has already been hired for Transformers 2. Nigel Phelps, who worked with director Michael Bay on Pearl Harbor and The Island, is listed on the United Talent Agency's website as having the job. Phelps is currently working on Universal's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

DreamWorks Pictures is targeting a June 26, 2009 release date for the sequel.

Hrmm, wonder why they decided to part way with the Production Designer from TF1. Hopefully this guy does a good job.

Wow, they are actually advertising that he was associated with the Island and Pearl Harbor. My low expectations for this film just sunk even lower.

I think the point is he worked with Bay on those. Not just that he worked on those.

He also worked on Alien Resurrection, Troy and Judge Dredd. Not a bad record, really.

To this guy's credit, The Island is one of the better-looking Bay flicks, so maybe TF2 will look even better than the original.

Now if we could do something about the writing, directing, and acting...

man just when ive finnally gotten over transformers one. I can stop playing the dvd over and over. all this talk about transformers two is is making me salivate again at movie news.

I think Im more excited about what this movie could be rather than what this movie actually is going to be.

i think the movie has cured me of my interest in the transformers, havnet even had a slight urge to pick it up on dvd, the ten bucks that got at the movies was more than they deserved.

He was also one of the two Art Directors on 1989's Batman. That movie had some great design.

    Arrgh ALIEN RESSURECTION!!!

I'm sorry I absolutely hate that movie.

other than that he has an alright track record and the fact that he was on the Original Batman more than makes up for it!

It was a thoroughly crap movie, but personally I put that down to the plot being rubbish. It was visually a very impressive movie.

I agree. You can't hold the plot against a production designer anyway *L*

Am I the only one here that enjoys a nice summer popcorn flick? I liked almost every movie mentioned in this thread simply because of the visuals, so I hope this new guy continues to do what he's been doing.

No. I do too on ocasion like a nice popcorn flick where I don't have to think, but just have to watch and enjoy. That's exactly what I was hoping the first movie would be like, and that's what I got out of it. That's also what I'm looking forward to with the sequels. I do however like movies where it chalanges me to think about what's going on. It's enjoyable to see if my guesses during the movie about the ending are true or not. I also like movies based off books. It's nice to see what it would look like, and how the creators interpret different things in the book. I'd continue to rant, but, I don't think anybody would like to hear me go on and on about my love for movies, lol.
