    RODIMUS PRIME (The Young Gun)

    1986 toy problem/issue:

(My most favorite toy in the world, too bad he couldn’t move his legs)

    Resolution:

The new leader of the Autobots and star of the 1986 animated film made this character my all time favorite. So I knew I had to make my own custom the way I wanted. He had to look tough and fearless. However, Hasbro/Takara just came out with their version, although it seems to be the best rendition of Rodimus Prime to date, like Optimus it is just too cute and plain. After all, the Autobots were soldiers in a war for peace. The masterpiece figure looks like a robotic butler rather than a soldier. So I had to create my own rendition, So what I did was make a custom that didn’t move away from the original but mirrored the original at a larger scale with a lot more modern technology and better proportions. Pretty much my main goal was to create a g1 figure that was more g1 than the original, 80’s style, with 2011 technology and this is the solution I came up with. A Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Malfunction.

    Special features:

    - Diecast chest w/ matrix storage room in robot mode
    - Transforming trailer attaches and detaches with ease
    - A mix of generation 1 styling and Revoltech proportions and pose ability
    - Gold flake applications
    - painted in classic generation colors and painted using only the best and most durable enamels
    - Articulation overload, including head on ball joint, articulated hands, arms and legs. Has 360 degree rotation as well as 90 degree ratcheting joints in knees

I wasn't really crazy about your ultra magnus, but this guy is pretty awesome. If I could offer one critique, I think his head looks really small. However, if you're trying to give him more of the illusion of size, a small head is beneficial for that, so that may be by design

Wow, a lot of work went into this, quite the custom. However it seems the alt mode is very cool looking at first glance, then upon closer viewing it appears to be a mishmash of ill-fitting parts that don't meld well together... The bot mode look absolutely fantastic.

Damn. If MP Rodimus actually looked liked this I would've gotten him with no hesitation.

That is awesome, TakTom should hire you to make a new line of "Classics MPs" or something.
