Aye, IGN is like a loose cannon. Sometimes, they are on par, but most of the time they are not. It's not that their reviewers are bad (quite the opposite in some cases), but their double standards are the worst on the net.

I'm not a reviewer, but I can give you a mini scenario. Did you like the PS2 Armada game? Did you tolerate the ROTF game? Then this will top that experience. Armada is still an AWESOME Transformers game. But while that game felt lonely and quiet, THIS IS WAR.

Like movies, I don't listen to many game reviews. Except X-play, since they usually fit my style.

For instance, most reviewers panned Spider-Man 3: The Game while I thought it was damn awesome.

You really trust the opinions of other people over the $7 or so it would take to rent the game and find out for yourself?...

The $7 saved by checking sites like Metacritic is $7 earned!

The Metacritic has been wrong too. It's not that it's wrong, it's just that as a shooter, this game breaks no new ground, but as a Transformers Shooter, it does everything right. I'm not saying that you have to be a Transformers fan to like it. I'm saying that as a Transformers fan, you'll probably love it.

And thinking back on the "breaking no new grounds", I'm actually wrong about that, because the Transforming works well enough in this game that it does give you the Master Chief and Warthog rolled into one element that most other shooters don't have.

When it comes to IGN reviews it's all about how much access did you give them during the games production. If you give them in house development visits, exclusive interviews, and so on, you'll always get a favorable review as long as the game isn't ungodly awful.

True, which is why it takes effort to get through their reviews, because you have to factor in a lot of what went on before the review.

My biggest example is how they have rated PS3 games below Xbox games when the PS3 version is inferior, but in the occasions when the opposite is true, the scores remain the same (Final Fantasy 13 is a recent example of this).

    I don't trust them, but if they give a game a 9.0 or a 10, I will still take a peak.

Wow, I'm a little shocked myself. I was honestly expecting a 6 or a 7 at most from IGN.

So was I, but the fact that other reviews are chiming in with positive reactions is an indication that IGN isn't getting money under the table.

Now they don't have their PS3 review up yet, but I am almost through the entire campaign and I have not noticed any hit in graphics or framerate. If there is a textural difference, it's small enough that I didn't notice it from my play at Best Buy on the 360. Online is another matter, but I did play Escalation with no problem.

Wow, the PC version is 40 bucks?? I'm probably triple dipping this thing.

    Looks like it's official.

War for Cybertron is pretty much the Arkham Asylum of Transformers.....
