Laserbeak flies. Though as seen on the pic only Megatron has a fighter mode other than Starscream. Rest of the protoforms and Ravage use meteor forms that are more like missiles. There is also Jetfire who switch sides. Not counting the rest of the Seekers.
I don't know why suddenly the Autobots and Decepticons need ships to move around space with... did people suddenly forget they have protoforms?
Protoforms are for short travels [like, let's say, between the Moon and Earth], ships are for larger travels [like, let's say, between Cybertron and Earth].
I loved the scene in DOTM where Sam is on the outskirts of Chicago and you see some F-18s fly in, only to be ambushed by the Con fighters and taken out. A simple scene that really reinforced the fact that the military couldn't get into the city.
Am SO glad they have ships. None of that "They transform into vehicles so they don't need them" crap. I think it's Orzi and Kurtzman that gave us the crap and Kruger that gave us the good stuff.

Just saw this on YT anyway the Xantium upon closer inspection is actually modified to carry the fuel tank. In its first scene without the shuttle we saw it has a fuel tank. Which means the Xantium's original configuration didn't have it. Shuttle Discovery.
Transformers 4 Age of Extinction we get new Decepticon ships. As well as the return of the Decepticon fighters.
The Autobots or humans have modified one fighter to have a gunner turret at the back. Probably at the far back fighter of Crosshairs. Maybe he jumps from it. The Kreon set Lockdown Air Raid , Lockdown may have fighter besides his ship.
Protoforms are used for DEEP interstellar space travel, as they travel deep in space they collect ice from the cold vacuum of space and take on the appearance of comets which also helps better hide themselves, ships would be means of transport for certain important objects, or just for transport of a small militia or refugees
The ships in orbit and Lockdown's ship I believe is of the same class. Both have pincer structure at front and circular upper decks at the rear. This type of ship can also transform as seen with this form with pincers moved towards the rear. Like the DOTM motherships, which brought inside Wheelie and Brain's fighter, these ships have tractor beams. Though they are much more powerful. The Decepticon fighters from DOTM make their appearance again. Though one seems to be modified for a rear gunner.
Lockdowns ship looks nothing like the fleet to me. They clearly have a wheel type structure smack dab in the center of the craft. Looks like night and day difference, especially since the latest poster with lockdowns ship.
Certainly I'd rather see battles between actual Transformers in flying alt modes than just some generic ships trading shots. It's like the Driller on DotM. Seeing that characterless thing crashing around for what felt like forever just bored the heck out of me. If there does have to be ship battles then I want to see more of the crew on the inside than just some unliving flying spikey things pewwing at each other for twenty minutes. Of course no doubt it would likely actually be humans inside the ships getting all the limelight than any kind of TF crew. And I can watch Star Trek if I wanted to see that. At the very least gimme some flying TF buzzing a big ship.
besides giving me a Quintison vibe still, does anyone else think they somewhat resemble very large Dino Eggs?
