In a similar fashion to Time's Person of the Year I think this site should host a poll to determine which Transformer character had the most impact on the mythology (television, comics, toys, etc).

I would say that this year belonged to Primus with his appearance in Cybertron and his first ever toy incarnation. He has gone from a mythical reference in the original Marvel (UK) comics series to a staple of the Transformers brand along with Unicron.

I agree with Primus. I love the Takara box he came in too. He was the last Transfomer before the company being being Takara-Tomy. Primus did mark the end of an era. Goodlike as he is, he proves once and for all what liars the Quintessons are!

I consider 2006 to be the year of Rodimus. Between the re-release of the movie and several new toys (and repaints), Rodimus has really come back into the spotlight again.

    About damn time, too.

Primus, IMO. Just an awe inspiring and fundamentally imposing figure in the TF Universe.

Has to be Primus. Not only an awesome figure with an incredible amount of detail and gimmicks, but let's remember, he transforms into Cybertron itself. That alone makes him the best Transformer in years, giving us the only planet we've been waiting for even longer than Unicron.

For most notorious TF of the year, I'd go with Alt Nemesis Prime. You know, the HTS fiasco and all...

Primus for me. We actually got a toy of CYBERTRON! And it TRANSFORMS! And, it's CARTOON ACCURATE!

2nd place: Alt. Mirage. A great concept that became the best Alt. yet.

It's got to be Primus, all the reason have really been said already, as much as 2006 has been an amazing year and there might well have been better toys he's just had the most impact on fans and the TF universe.

Classic Jetfire should get an mention as well, we've been waiting for him since G1's first season.

I agree. Primus was just one toy. A great one true, but in terms of overall impact on the mythos I have to go with Rodimus. For a character who was meant to be Op's successor, then regailed to obscurity, then redefined in Energon just last year and IDW this year and has had a total of 5 new toys/homages this year, plus the 20th anniversary of the movie I think Roddy deserves his 15 minutes of fame again.
