My nephew's birthday is friday and he's turning 7. I was thinking of getting him a transformer. It will be his first ever.
Is an Animated toy suitable or too complex for someone that age? I'm asking because I seriously would'nt know about those toys :lol

If they're ok, list a few Animated suggestions for something I might be able to find at WalMart. (easy to transform, looks cool, easy on the wallet... etc.)

    Thanks

Activators. They look real good. They're easy to transform, and they're pretty cheap.

Animated is very suitable. I would say.... Deluxe Lockdown out of the ones that I own. Simple, but very cool looking. A foreworning though, watch the hands. They don't bend out as far as you'd think.

Sentinel Prime is a good one too. I only mention that one because he seems pretty common in Wal Mart for me.

    Id have to say...

Jazz or sentinel prime - both very fun and easy transformations, and cool looking toys

The jet twins - also easy transformations and they combine

Voyager bulkhead - another easy transformer that is very fun and also really duarable.

Go easy on him. My five year old is getting to the point he cant almost transform the majority of stuff he has, but he gets practice thanks to his interest.

Couple of my nephews on the other hand, speaking from experience, I'd have to recommend going with a more simplistic Fast Action Battler figure. It's very decent size, has some kind of action feature, very solid, easy as all hell to transform. They're like many of the G1 bricks we knew & loved really. There's tons of them for the movie line at stores right now.

Activators are easy to transform, and you can get a few for a good price, I don't know about you, but around here, Animated is on clearance.

I'm sure he can handle all of animated, the kid's seven after all Xd

But Figure wise I'd say go for Voyager optimus prime, he's a fire truck, easy to transform and just looks good to boot.

Activators are excellent, especially Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.
Any Optimus, Jet Twins, Jazz, Dinobots - all good for young ages

For Animated, Most of the deluxes and a few Voyagers (OP, Bulkhead, etc.) are good choices.

Although if you want to go for Movie, I'd recomend trying to get Movie Smokescreen (Movie 1 Jazz repaint). The figure is simple to transform for the most part (the hood part is a bit tricky, but with practice it's easy), the rear bumper/spoler section can become a sholder-mounted shield, and he has a sword/gun thing that can be mounted on both arms AND the spoiler, so for playability it's a good figure.
