So it has just recently come to my attention (I must be late to this hat party.)

Why is it, that Beastwars is really the only line to feature facial expressions? Like, when I noticed that none of my figures have any form of expression, other then a grimace. It just made me think.

    What do you all think?

First off they're robots. They shouldn't emote excessively in the first place.

Secondly, they're toys meant to either be played with or posed. An expressive face kind of dictates/limits the direction of what the toy should be doing. I have no problem with an action pose and a blank slate face, but I have a problem with a warriors scream or whatever the hell they were trying for with Kup, while he's just standing in the back of the ranks of my display. He just looks confused like someone stole his meds.

    Oh! Universe Galvatron does too.

Universe Legends Wheelie has a hilarious sad frown.

I'm going to go ahead and say "Lol-what?" Most of the figures listed (Aside from the seekers) all have grimaces, and or blank slates. As for the animated, I know there are a couple that don't have blank slate... but off the top of my head, I can only think of Bumblebee.

As for it "Hindering the posability", How so? I mean obviously, you don't want a transformer pulling a Dreamwave all the time, however, I just feel like there just isn't enough emotion.

Also, to the dude saying "They are robots, they don't need to emote." dude, have you ever watched/read Transformers? You obviously must be new here... Megatron's smile...Enough said...

Ones that come to mind -

    Ratchet - grumpy/sad frown
Sentinel Prime - Not quite sure what to call it. Looks fairly judgemental.
    Swindle - slight smirk
Starscream, skywarp, sunstorm - big open-mouth smirk
    Wreck-Gar - smile
    Jetfire - smile
Voyager Megatron - open mouth angry face

    Botcon -
Sideswipe/Breakdown - ... no idea what to call it, but its not a normal expression
Wildrider - Again, not sure what to call it, but one eye is open wider than the other.
    Motormaster - very angry face.

In comparison to Beast Wars, which was 90% grimaces, and 9% inhuman mess.

    Injector is the 1%.

They're an alien lifeform who just happen to be robotic, it doesn't make them emotionless. They're not Vulcans...not so sure about perceptor though

True, but I never said emotionless. Facial expressions are fine, but they shouldn't be overly excessive or exaggerated. I guess bottom line is it's up to how we individually choose to perceive them, and I don't picture them with really wild facial expressions. Now that I think of it, artistic style plays a roll too. Facial expressions that I'd have accepted in TFA wouldn't fly in TF: Prime.

    Yep, I'm obviously new... Obviously...

You want your toys making a bunch of random faces, showing teeth, and sticking out their tongues, more power to you.

I'm only teasing, because as above it seemed as if you where going for the whole Shockwave appeal with everything.

ROTF Prime has an extremely emotive facial expression. It's just hidden under his faceplate.

    Blitzwing - MULTIPLE EXPRESSIONS
Shockwave - all of the expressions (you can't tell by just looking, though)

One of my favorite things about Beast Wars is the headsculpts. Most of them had extremely detailed and expressive faces, each one more unique than the other (i.e. you got the normal bug Pred, like Drill Bit or Insecticon, then you got damned monstrosities like Injector or Bonecrusher or Transquito).

He's right, most animated figures have facial expressions. It's great how you mentioned Beast Wars because it uses a much wider variety of faces for its characters. G1 only used silver human faces with lines.
