    Guys,

We were sitting here at work pondering the transformation sound from the G1 era.

How did they make that sound? Just curious.

    Thanks.

    thats actually an interesting question.

kinda like the trivia how the lightsaber sound was found.

sounds like a case for nevermore: internet detective.

I remember that being an oft-pondered mystery in years past. With all the information that has emerged in recent years around the TV series and the movie, you'd think there would be someone in the know on this one.

Do I also remember hearing somewhere that the only "clean" tf'ing sound in existence (no music or other noises behind it) is Prime's transformation in the movie upon his arrival at Autobot city (just before 'The Touch')?

Has to be a sythesized sound. The blaster sounds in Star Wars were made by hitting a steel cable..

It's a synth sound. I remember seeing somewhere a few years back the actual synth formula if you will.

Maybe it is some guy who goes 'Chi-Choo-cho-cho-cho-cho-choo-chi'?

On another note I remember making that noise as a kid, while transforming, but it would last a minute and become very slow in the middle.
