I have a sneaking suspicion that the traditional transformation sound will be used in the next movie. What will be key is us making some noise here and on Michael Bay's own website. It doesn't sound that unreal to me and is trademark to TF's. Actually I think it sound plain bad ass. I like the way how it can be played fast or slow and sets the tempo to transformation. Transformers Animated has done a good job at this IMHO.

I want to hear some opinions. Should Michael Bay just go full force in using the transformation sound?

I'd rather it just stayed as an Easter Egg, put it in a few scenes like in the first movie but thats it.
The new sounds they came up with for the transforming were good.

To me the best transforming sound of the movie was when Ironhide was trasforming rolling down the street in the city..Ya know, the real slow bass transforming sound...I think they should use that for all the transformations.

I sort of liked it when it was the sound of shifting and clinking metal. I think they should only use it once or twice in the sequel (similar to the first movie).

how about a different theme for each Autobot, like a really light and quick one for Bumblebee, a deep bass one for Ironhide etc. Just something that sounds like metal hitting metal, but unique to each Autobot.

    Sigh...

Worked for G1, works for animated, will NOT work for a live action movie.

    There. Happy?

I'd have to say I have varying views on this. In the case of a quick Transformation (ie Barricade chasing Bumblebee) the classic sound should be used, just with some additional sounds. It should remain the predominate sound. It just fits, and it's one of those things that should be preserved. In the case of a slower transformation, I think it should be slowed down and emphasized like the majority of the first movie. I also like the idea of different pitches of the sound for different TFs.

Just brings another things to mind... I hope they don't do a ton of those really long drawn out transformations. Really is kind of a distraction from the action (hey that rhymes!!!) :D

More than likely, they'll use the same sounds as from the first movie but maybe throw in a few classic aspects.

the mix of the original sound and the new metal clanking and stuff from the first movie was just fine

dont see any reason why they would change it

yea when i saw the movie in theaters, i nearly crapped myself when blackout first transforms and right before he started, i could hear the classics transformation sound followed closely by the clanking and rattling. it made the movie for me and it should be handled similarly for part dos.

    No. It's a big No.
    I want only metal sounds.
The classic one, sounds uploaded instead of real.

I say use both. Some robot characters use the classic and others use
    the metal sound.

Funny how pre movie everyone (ie. lots of people not 100%) was crying about the exclusive use of the original g-1 transformation sound, now it's kinda the opposite. Just an observation, carry on :)

I think it worked really well when they managed to combine the two with some of the classic sound and some new sounds to produce something different than what we got on TV.

Ha ha, what next, change the sound that lightsabers make because that was too 80's.

Keep the original sound!!! Like when Blackout transformed... And modify it for different type of transformations.. slow or fast... But I gotta say Ironhide s was awesome... Also Bonecrusher s and Barricade s.... Cant wait to see Jetfire transform for the first time!!!
