Does anyone thing that parts of the "Transformers the Game" for PS2 are better than the movie?

The game only shares like 40% of the story line, but I LOVE the new/different scenes with Megatron and his minions, his voice (original actor) is WAY better than Hugo's. Starscream and Blackout do a little talking too!

    Anyone agree?:inquisiti

Eh, I don't think Frank Welker's voice fits this new incarnation of Megatron as well as it suited G1 Megatron.

Ditto, and the only part plot-wise I liked better was the Autobot's ending, where Prime wasn't such a pussy

The Decepticons get more characterization than they did in the film, but otherwise the game sucks.

Plus, how could you end the movie like the game's last battle?
If you are on the Decepticon side, Megatron beats Prime up, Prime runs away, Megatron can't follow because he has to (inexplicably) stay and fight drones, then he finds, Prime, beats him up, Prime runs away, repeat two more times.

    Disagree much.

I'm assuming you mean the various scenes and scenarios vs. things like "I like the fact that the bots on the screen do things I tell them to, which they refused to do in the movie". I liked Megs' awakening a great deal more in the movie than the game. The whole bit with bumblebee fighting robospiders while megs takes potshots at him was meh. Not to mention frustrating since my game seemed to bug out and have megs shoot me every 3 seconds and through walls.

I liked the decepticon ending for the game more than the movie ending, though. ;)

no way! you have it for the ps2!!! can you tell me if it's as good as the next gen versions?

spiderman 3 for the ps2 was dumbed down a lot and had the crappiest graphics I've seen! I don't want to make the same mistake again :(

If only the movie ended the way the game ended. I would be happier. so would prime.

yea the games pretty much sucks. thats how the fights are, beat him, chase him, beat him up, chase him. and when you play as Jazz, the only way to beat SS and BO is to throw items. the only good cut scene is the autobots ending. and Frank Welker' voice does not fit the new megatron

I dunno....Weaving did an Ok job as Megatron I guess. He sounded more like roaring dragon at certain points more then he did Megatron though. I think what really killed it for me was when he slipped into Agent Smith for a moment, and then I realized how much he wasn't Megatron.

id have to say I liked the movie a better sans a few things. I.E. the more characterization of the Decepticons. The game was just fucking frusterating. Two of the most annoying battles in any game, Bumblebee vs. Megs in Hoover Dam (cheap shot much?) and Jazz vs. Starscream and Blackout, wtf? Why was it Jazz (the smallest and weakest of the Autobots face two of the largest and more powerful decepticons? Im' sorry but Transformers: the Game FTL there all the way. Other than that i was fine with playing the game.

P.S. Hugo was better. especially for that design.

I thought the game MEGATRON sounded like a grumpy old man with asthma. Hugo on the other hand was scary!
Also, the movie was (for the most part) deliberately told the story from a human perspective - the best way to get non-fans into the story. The game did not.

I really did like the game endings that's for sure, a bit more so than the movie.

It was fun to hear Welker as Megatron, but I think Weaving suits the part better for this incarnation.

What irks me about the game (besides the gameplay itself) is that their mouths do not move when they're talking... Megatron is like permanently slack-jawed.

I played the game about halfway through the missions as starscream and gave up. It wasn't that it was difficult, it's that it was stupid.

The driving was awful, the flying was also garbage. The autobots smashing everything to hell didn't make any sense, the one bossfight I did vs bumblebee was just idiotic(all he did was do the blast wave attack again and again, just block and run up to him and hit him, whoopdeedoo). The hardest part about the game was the longarm drones(which looked dumb as heck with the towtruck arm just flailing around) sitting behind something and then smacking you halfway down the block when you were easily nowhere near the range of the spinning arm. And the mission to escort bonecrusher? WTF was that?

And that's not even the graphics. Ok, the main characters themselves looked ok, and the animations for transforming were kinda cool, but the environment itself looked like crap. Even on my 47 inch tv, the drones didn't look anything special, chasing around the jets as blackout was actually a pain because they were so plain looking and blended in with everything. And this was the PS3 version. I can't imagine how bad the ps2 game looks, especially when other ps2 games(god of war 1 and 2 for example) look spectacular.

It's a sloppy halfassed game with generic environments that they just made some models for and used a basic outline of the movie to try and create some missions to do.

It'd be nice if someone could ever figure out how to make a decent transformers game, spend a couple years developing it, and the few million dollars it would need. Instead we're just going to be stuck with more garbage like this for the 2nd and 3rd movies.

Hmmm, why MUST they release movie based games at the same time as the movie anyway?

Would it kill them to spend a few more extra months making a better game? Will the hype have died down that much after that? Or is just not within the budget?

Nevertheless, Transformers: The Game is still selling pretty well despite the crappiness...

Hugo as Megatron worked for me, Welkers megatron though great for nostalgia just doesnt fit the look.

I hated the movie game, i was all set to get it, then played the demo and thought it was horribly boring.

The armada game was quite fun, save for the awful tacked on unicron level.

I love Weaving as this new Megatron. He fits this version of the character a lot better than Welker. The voice just doesn't fit personally. That, and like someone else said, he sounds like a grumpy old man with asthma ... you can tell its different than G1.

Most people here want Welker purely because it is nostalgic .. not because the voice fits. And if they think the voice fits, its only because you are accustomed to listening to it. Most people out there A) Will not equate the name Welker with Megatron moreso than I can equate the voice of scooby doo with that character. When it comes to animated stuff, most people don't pay attention to who the person is behind the voice, they pay attention to the character itself. And B) Have not seen G1 since they were kids and won't argue the difference. All they know is ... thats Megatron.

Welker for megs = bad. Weaving for megs = good.

And yes, I have played and beaten the game.

Having worked with audio stuff a bit while volunteering at my church, I've seen a lot of the crazy stuff you can do with audio to make it sound better. With the game, it was like they just recorded old man Welker talkin in the Megs voice, and left it at that with little change which could have helped it tremendously.

Hugo's voice was so watered down with effects that you could barely tell it was him, and honestly it could have been done by someone else and been just the same. For me though, all the movie voices with the exception of Prime and Screamer were too bland. I imagine if Bonecrusher, Blackout, and Brawl actually had lines that we could understand, they would have sounded a lot like Megs and Barricade.

Ratchet's seemed to fit him okay, and Ironhide's wasn't too bad. Bumblebee sounded weird to me, I thought they would have done better to go with a G1-styled voice for Bumblebee, a higher pitched voice with more life to it.

Jazz, now I think Eddie from Family Matters is great and all, but not for Jazz. It may just be because I can't think of Jazz without thinking of Scatman Crothers who did his voice in G1 btw. Jazz had a cool kid kind of voice, not one of a gangsta rapper. I think his movie voice would have fit a Jazz that was tall had a huge hat with a huge feather and walked around with a cane after transforming from a old caddy with huge rims on it. I applaud them on effort trying to recapture Jazz's personality of being hip and into Earth's culture, but they failed miserably. G1 Jazz is my second favorite character of all time in anything (second only to Optimus), and it was because of his voice and the development of his character through his voice.

    Thats just my 2 cents
