Now I know this may not be the most appropriate place to put this....but i just wanted to vent, and i won't mention a specific name since i already left feedback....

I'm wondering what bad trades you guys have experienced on this forum.

Today, i drove more than an hour out of the way to meet someone, to trade a leader class figures. Before I met him He tells me that his figure is perfect, no issues at all when I asked him. I get there, and pieces of the head were breaking off. What infuriated me is that he acted like he didnt even notice this incredibly obvious flaw, and offered me "a few dollars" to make up for it. Like really? Im just going to give him my perfect figure for his broken one and acfew extra dollars after driving an hour away to meet this pathetic loser since he had no car. He claimed it happened that morning and then he said it happened yesterday in another text, claiming to be sorry. Mind you if that was the case he could have left me know that it happened before i left. I am thinking in profanity right now and not writing it because I'm not sure if its acceptable on this site. Bah. I hate this guy, and the fact that I wasted two hours....

I thought it's common knowledge you should ask for pictures.

As a former used car photographer, I refuse to believe pictures. I haven't been burnt yet, but I know way too much about how to hide MAJOR flaws. I prefer to ask really specific questions and then use that as leverage if things aren't as described, or I won't go through with a deal if things don't add up.

    Yep.^

Chances are that if a person's gonna lie to your avatar's face about something being perfect, they're also gonna manage to make their shit look good in a picture, or otherwise manage to take said picture with a potato. Plus, it's not like pics can really tell you about joints or discolouration most of the time, so they mainly serve to let someone know that what you have isn't missing parts or is actually something entirely different. I mean, the point of a good photo is often to make something look better than it is without making it seem like you had that intention, so specific questions are a must for stuff that's not brand new, and these days often when it is.

    Two words.

    Hybrid Prime.

Otherwise no one has screwed me with bad figures on trades yet. I try pretty hard to give a good overview of a figure before selling or trading if there is anything that is wrong with it. If I don't say anything its probably because its completely fine as far as I can tell. I've been pretty happy with what I've gotten recently. Like this little vehicon here who I can't stop fiddling with and taking my time away from screwing with Giant.

yeah, if it isn't listed as "MISB" or "MOSC" then asking for pics is a definite part of the transaction....

and sometimes, if you aren't "sure" its even good to get them if it is listed as the above.

To make matters worse, the guy had reasonably good feedback, so that was another reason why I didn't bother asking for pics, because honestly, if i were selling something to someone id be sure to name any flaws or breaks FIRST, so my buyer or trader knows what theyre getting into.

I've had worse luck with sealed figures because there's often no recourse for quality control errors and factory defects. Case in point, I just got a MISB Telemocha Dinobot that I opened only to find it has two of the same lower biceps. Wouldn't have been visible in a picture of the sealed figure, but had it been opened, it would have been mentioned.

Not everyone here is gonna be honest with you....sucks to say, but its true.

Just learn from this ordeal, and try not to let it ruin the rest of your deals here.

That blows. I have yet to run into an issue here on TFW. I have had other bad experiences from other places. It sucks. Nothing to do but live and learn. At least you were there in person so you didn't get the bum figure.

Profanity's allowed on this site. Don't go overboard, though.

Leave him a feedback he deserves explaining why he deserves it. You might take a hit as well.

All in all like a couple of people already said take it as a battle scar and put it under the experience belt.
