Not that you don't have a point, but that specific example was unique, in that the Voltron stuff was being distributed by an entirely different company in Canada.

If TRU were relying on my custom to stay open no wonder they failed, seriously flawed business plan there.

What happens when Amazon puts all competitors out of business and no one has income to buy stuff from Amazon?

    It'll be just like Wall-E.

    How sad.

This is really piss me off why TRU is shutting down.  Without it, all of kids will upset or suffer, and it is not fair.

They may have been a retail dinosaur but I will miss them, in the same way I still miss Woolworths - although Woolworths were 1000x more useful than TRU have ever managed to be in this country.

But while they were frustrating as fuck in many ways, and their pricing could be insane, when it came to Titans Return they were at least holding the pricing line for sub-£20 deluxes while Argos and the Entertainer both ran with HasUks extortionate attempt at £24.99 a pop. If they aren't here anymore we can probably say goodbye to the last attempt at price restraint in these Isles.

Smyths are barely a presence in London so they won't fill the void for me at least.

Child World was my store. Child World & Toys R Us were the big ones. I always loved CW & never really cared for TRU.

Toys R Us was the first place I ever saw Transformers. But except for that, I have no love for them & won't miss'em. I still miss Child World.:(

they're all on their ipads and phones now anyway. toys are no longer of interest to them as their primary source of entertainment.

I don't care. I'm sure Toys R Us wasn't complaining when it put small toy shops out of business.

For me, I simply went where the toys were. Toys R Us didn't have them, and for me, the whole UK didn't. That's why I moved to Japan. To be completely honest, I couldn't give a rat's bum about British toy shops, as they were usually overpriced and didn't have what I wanted (except for Woolworths, which was great, bless them). I suppose I really should say "Amazon Japan, ftw", really.

Just hope that something rises from the ashes. Them and other retailers (Fred Meyer) often seem to get loaded up with stuff that just isn't going to sell in many lines (probably their buyer's fault). Seems like somewhere between TRU and Hasbro/Mattel/Lego/Etc, they could make a better determination of what figures/lines are going to be hot. There is probably an advantage of shortpacking certain items, and it isn't an exact science, but there has to be a better way to gauge numbers and lines of toys that will work.

Also, while the collector market is still small, it is growing at a tremendous rate compared to children's toys, and collectors are a much different animal that could definitely be served better throughout the chain (as obnoxious as we are).

I hope that TRU Canada can hold on!  We have no alternatives!  Walmart is terrible and that\'s the only other store that sells TF in my town!

Kaybee was the wake up call, TRU just refused to listen. If anything, they tried to step up and fill the void of "overpriced toy store" vacated by Kaybee. This was about as self inflicted as it gets.

People need to stop with the 'overpriced' idea. Walmart/Target use toys as loss leaders. They sell them with little to no profit. TRU can't do that. They also do not get to buy figures as low as Walmart does. You can't run a business where you break even. Walmart makes up their profits in other areas.

I'm going to miss TRU, Woolworths was a blow, and TRU became my main option for reasonably priced Transformers.

Entertainer and Argos prices are ridiculous (in Argos's case they only seem to have the odd random figure in stock whenever I check and their system sucks) and there's no Smyths anywhere near where I live.

The other thing is that I generally relied on TRU for some of the bigger stuff, if I didn't want to pay ridiculous postage prices.

It's also a pity because TRU was also one of the places I was always taking my kids for their toys. My youngest is not going to be happy. She's going to miss her favourite aisle.
