I was just being smart considering nobody wants to read the thread. Stores are not just shutting their doors after they announce liquidation. You will have weeks to buy stuff before the doors are officially locked

I was just being smart considering nobody wants to read the thread. Stores are not just shutting their doors after they announce liquidation. You will have weeks to buy stuff before the doors are officially locked. I have been giving REAL info all through-out the thread, nothing "misinformation" about what I have said.

So,for the next 1-2 months,I'll get to watch the Vultures come out again!

This is obviously the most likely scenario, but I think the point being made is that you don't know anything with absolutely certainty. TRU doesn't even know anything with certainty. They'll have a plan, but it's ultimately up to the court to approve that plan.

Nobody is saying you're wrong, they just don't like you presenting your (educated) assumption as absolute certainty.

I went to my local TRU yesterday and it's clear that people know this is happening. Normally, there are a ton of peg warmers on shelves, but yesterday some shelves were almost barren. Nothing new was stocked, or it if was, it was no longer there. I did grab the Black Lion for the classic Voltron set, he was the only one left.

I suspect with the debt issues going back to when this was all first announce, some products were halted from coming in. Hasbro is probably the only that came product coming since they had a greater interest in TRU.

I'm curious if a company will buy the name, seeing the business and its stores are not being snatched up an investor. I thought the same happened with KB?

Sad news for the UK, on both the store closings and employees losing their jobs.

I would honestly think the toy companies would be actively striving to do everything in their power to keep TRU afloat. I guess they've decided that online sales are better haha.

...what if hasbro were to buy toys-Я-us, to compete with the likes of lego and disney’s brick-and-mortar presence?..too large a footprint perhaps, but it’s difficult for me to visualise cramming all of hasbro’s brands into a small boutique floorplan...

But look on the bright side...at least the TRU execs get to keep their bonuses.

BTW...I'm kidding. It torques my gears.

Hasbro made 5.21 Billion in 2017. TRU currently owes over 5 billion in debt. No company would spend over a years earnings to keep a vendor that accounts for 10% of their business open under their brand.

It would be literally billions of dollars cheaper for them to start their own store chain if they wanted to do something even remotely like that. Sure, it would be immensely beneficial to keep TRU from an industry POV, but with that much debt, it's unpalatable to toxic.

I don't know how this would work from a legal regulation standpoint, but I wonder if somebody is waiting for the liquidation in order to snatch up the branding. That's literally the only part of the company with any value right now.

I also tried to log into RewardsRUs to try and cash out just in case, but the site doesn't seem to be working.

Not a business or legal person myself so I have to look for articles from people that might have a clue. From a Business Insider article they are suggesting that people use their gift cards before it's too late. From other places going under after a certain date you will be out of luck if you still have money on a gift card and no legal recourse to get that money back.

They also seem to think that there will be some going out of business period but that instead of dragging it out they will try to clear off things quickly. So maybe we will see step price cuts early instead of the waiting game on when they will cut prices.

Toys R Us gift cards could be useless in a matter of weeks

With the amount of debt they have, I could definitely see the creditors wanting a quick sell off just to recover whatever they can as quickly as possible. They're not going to have new product coming in, and after the initial rush of people buying stuff up there's really no point in sitting in half-empty real estate.

It worked on mobile for me. I guess I'm just having technical difficulties.
