Most everything is now 20% except Lego at 10%. I was told yesterday the last official truck arrives later this week from the DC, and then the center is empty so anything else brought in after that is done by the liquidators so it might not even be TRU product at that point

The liquidation is scheduled to last through June. They aren’t trying to just get rid of their inventory as quick as possible and close shop, they are trying to maximize the profit to pay off their debts. Announcing to everyone when they will see deeper discounts is counter intuitive to maximizing the sales.

That is logical. However, conducting the sale in a way which discourages shoppers from being excited about the liquidation is also counterintuitive. Knowing when the next markdown goes into effect serves two good purposes for the liquidator. Some people will be afraid of losing their item at the next markdown and will buy it at today’s price to secure it. Others will possibly snap it up on the next markdown if no one buys it the previous day. As it stands currently with no known timetable, no one feels any urgency and no one buys.

Liquidation sales rarely have an actual timetable, hell look at funpubs for reference. They had an established pattern, but it wasn’t set in stone and when they deviated from it people got butthurt when they couldn’t get stuff 90% off. If people miss something it’s their own fault for waiting and if they think there’s going to be a published schedule of the increases in liquidation prices then that’s pretty ignorant

Hmm, that might actually be fun depending on what shows up.

Welp, apparently they're not getting in any more Switches, at least at the Savannah TRU. Then again, I spoke to a generic cashier-type person so it's possible she doesn't actually know what she's talking about.

The fact that the article quotes one supplier and they sound worried about the saturation of the toy market makes me think this inventory is more then just $1 store items.

agreed, once they clear out the politically correct TRU product we could see a breaf return to TRU of the 80's. They might even sell toy guns again.

Sure. But that would seem to run counter to how a liquidator would want to operate. Yes, the liquidator CAN do that. But people don't go to a toy store to purchase pot and pans and, from a business standpoint, putting pots and pans in a toy store would be a poor choice to host the inventory. And while liquidators are odd ducks...they are still a business.

    L.O.L. Surprise is a #1 toy?

    LOL! Surprise!

I've read reports from several stores about getting their final truck deliveries this week because their DC is now cleared out. For many stores a large portion of those last shipments was large baby gear such as car seats. I wouldn't have expected any more consoles to show up by this point.

The LOL line has been extremely popular. The large LOL surprise ball was one of the hottest items last XMas.

To be extremely clear, any remaining video game consoles, HBA, and diapers are 5% off. All construction toy is now 10% off. Everything else is 20-40% off.

In other news, my store received its last truck yesterday. The Frederick, MD DC is officially empty.

No matter how slowly it happens, or at what pace, the outcome is always the same.

... so the people I asked today weren't sure if thy were getting in any more Switches or not. I'm confused, but if they're going to be open for another month or so it'd make sense if they did.
