Kind of a mixed blessing since when I left the company the list was at 207+ stores, but yesterday 73 stores had meetings where they were told there stores will be closing as of March 8th. Liquidation signs went up at those stores today. I only know a few specific stores as no one I know has access to the full list (Maybe Junior can access it?) But confirmed closings (where I knew people or where I've seen people from those stores post about it) are:

    Phoenix AZ
    Fairfield CA
    Emeryville CA
    Vallejo CA
    Mira Mesa CA
    Woodbury MN
    Duluth MN
    Bridgeton, MO
    Dorchester, Mass
    Cambridge, Mass
    Medford, Mass
    Levittown, NY
    Commack, NY
    Freeport, NY
    Charleston, SC
    Columbia, SC
    Holyoke, Mass
    W Kellogg, KA
    Owensboro, Ky
    Tampa (Dale Mabry) Florida
    Chicago (Lafayette St.) IL
    Arlington Heights, IL
    Lansing, IL
    Bourbonnais, IL
    Michigan City, Ind
    Indianapolis, Indiana
    Columbus, OH
    Levittown, NY
    West Ashley (Charleston), SC
    Bridgeton (St. Louis), MO
    Dorchester, MA
    Cambridge, MA
    Medford, MA
    Wichita, KS
    Nashville TN
    Memphis (Johnson City), TN
    Wheaton, MD
    Tysons Corner. VA
    Grand Junction, CO
    Cincinnati, OH (Near Tri-County Mall)
    Houston, TX (Greenspoint)
    Brownsville, TX
    Victoria, TX
    Macon, GA

Anybody else that sees one not on the list (They SHOULD all have signs up) add to the thread and I'll update the list :)  Its not really known if this is just a "first round" situation like KB did (Where the other stores on the 1st list I saw may still be in danger) or if those stores managed to survive by cutting all their full time people etc. to cut costs and save themselves.

Mods, Since many of us do get TFs from TRU I thought it was worthy of going in News...if not feel free to move it...

"Twelve other Toys "R" Us locations will convert to Babies "R" Us stores"

They did that to one here, what a waste of space

"Chicago-area stores due to close are at 8900 S. Lafayette St. in Chicago and in Arlington Heights, Lansing, Bourbonnais and Michigan City, Ind"

WM is one step closer to completely being able to control what toys are on the shelves.

I feel for the peeps with jobs at there but to be honest the nearest TRU to me has never been that great, never a good amount of good stuff, wonder if it'll be closing, wouldn't suprise me, all the KBs around were closed.

This sucks Razer. That Vallejo TRU was perfect for me since it was on my way to work and only 5 minutes from there. :(

Tampa II (Dale Mabry) Florida is going to close as well. I know of a few others that are rumored but I am not going to listed them till I have confirmation. Fortunately, my store is not closing or relocating

Shit,I Hope the Toys R Us I work in doesn't go down.I'm assuming they woulda told us though,so who knows.

This does explain why the managers have been forced to cut hours though, seems like the company is in a pinch.

Any update on where we can find a complete list of closings?

These ones are mentioned as beginning liquidation sales on Saturday (today) at the Chicago Tribune site:

    - 8900 S. Lafayette St., Chicago

    - 1584 N. State Route 50, Bourbonnais

    - 40 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights

    - 4100 S. Franklin St., Michigan City

    - 16855 S. Torrence Ave., Lansing

Others might possibly be found via Google News

If your store was closing you would have had a store meeting to announce the closure.

Hours cuts are normal for the close of the fiscal year. The closures have more to do with the company re-evaluating improvement or decline ofsales in each store, Babies "R" Us expansion opportunities, real estate value of the property, and other determining factors.

There is a great amount of debt that needs to be paid off now that the company is under new ownership. Although I absolutely do not want to see ANY store closures, the revenue can be used to improve the rest of the stores and pay down debt. In the end, hopefully we will end up with a leaner, stronger Toys "R" Us.
