Adding to what was revealed at NYCC, the Feb. 2011 issue of Toyfare includes a 2-pg interview with IDW's Infestation notables Chris Ryall and Tom Waltz. Highlights: * The story resulted from IDW's editors having a "who would win" discussion. * Infestation is "a crossover and one all-inclusive storyline without...legal complexities of combining separate licensed characters." * The licensors were "across the board, absolutely supportive." Ryall adds that they were "very encouraging and excited to see something like this happen." * The opener for the comic mini-series involves: Spoiler "...vampire special operatives from Covert Vampiric Operations...in a life-and-death struggle with zombies at a secret military base, where highly classified experimental testing has been taking place involving trans-dimensional trave. The gateway accidentally opens a most inopportune dimensional door. And, remember, in Zombies vs Robots, even robots can become zombies, so machines are just as vulnerable as humans, adding to the dangers of a zombie plague gone wild." * Fans should not fear that this story will "derail the comics they've been enjoying." * You won't see "hokey story elements" like Spock meeting Optimus Prime or Snake Eyes riding in the Ecto-1: "The licensed books do not cross over into one another, the characters don't overlap [with one exception from CVO]." Also included is an exclusive preview of the comic art featuring what appears to be...possibly... Spoiler ZOMBIE PRIME!
