theres some notable TF info for this issue, namely:

    - some quips from sunbow founders griffin and bacall in regards to TFTM since the DVD is coming out, mainly abt the decision to kill off prime and its impact.

    - a mention in the shop talk blurb where retailers claim how TFs were doing well, even before the movie hype, in particular alternators.

i'd post the whole damn thing - its just a couple'a paragraphs - but i'm lazy. nyah!

    edit:

    okay, OKAY! geez...rassem frassem rassem...

I think Cybertron has done better than Energon(?) ... but based on some of the stories i've heard about older Alts clogging shelves, i doubt some of their claims.

I believe the reports that Alts are doing well, despite warming the shelves. Heck, just the other day, I went TF hunting, and found about 5 Skids gathering dust with one Tracks. Does this tell me Alts are circling the drain? No, quite the opposite, this tells me that at least five cases have already sold, all except the Skids.

If they repainted him as ironhide they wouldn't be able to keep him on the shelves

Eh, I wouldn't want Ironhide as a minivan. He deserves something better. Of course, if they did make him as a Skids remold or redeco, I'd buy one anyways!
I also have to say Cybertron flies off the shelves down my end of the UK. When new ones come in, they rarely stay around for long. This is the same store where in the past the same three TFs would sit on a shelf all line long.

I think Cyb. has done great (almost definitely better than Armada, and seemingly better than Energon). As far as Alts go, a lot of people love them, but, maybe they just overestimate the demand for some of them. Its still rare for me to find Alt Prime or Mirage on the shelves.

Cybertron's done much better than Energon, IMO. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll be seeing Cannonballs, Demolishors (dammit Hasbro, you KNEW this would collect dust), and Brimstones taking up peg space for awhile.

Thanks for saving me the trip to the local Books-A-Million where I'd read it on the shelf!

    You are indeed 'awesum' KA.

I am amused it takes a guy from Malaysia to post about an american magazine so (predominantly) americans here can read it about it. What, does Toyfare get released in asia first?!?

Talking to a friend of mine who works in toy stores, I'd be careful not to assume that seeing a few shelfwarmers or never seeing Alts at all means the line is doing poorly. It can also mean solid sell-through.

Seems to be the case more than anything else around here. Alt inventories have fluctuated wildly since the reboot a year ago.
