The 2018 Australian Toy, Hobby and Licensing Fair is on in Melbourne from today until Wednesday, and Hasbro are once again present to show off this year's toys to Retailers.
Ozformers was invited to visit their exhibit for the eleventh year now, and take some photos... and we will be back there later today for what was going to be a world first reveal of three Transformers toys, but Hasbro America miscalculated the different timezones, and released official images four hours early. :(

But first, with thanks to Hasbro Australia and Hasbro America for making this possible, some photos of the toys on display this year at the Hasbro exhibit.

(the Cyberverse and Studio Series toys are actually in the sealed room with the Bumblebee Movie toys, but Hasbro Australia were generous enough to bring some out of the room for me to photograph)

The big feature is Predaking this year, and I was able to bring my Gen1 Predacon set with me for some comparison photos.... and was even allowed to combine one of the sets to have a bit of a trial play (it had the same feel as Devastator with its design and complexity, not being too difficult to spoil the play element or too easy for the expected hefty price-point).

Ponys and Bots.... a nice combination.

Over to one side they had a display of licensed items (to encourage retailers to seek out licensed items to add to their range of Hasbro toys... and doesn't mean that any of it will actually be released here).
Of interest were some Moschino clothing and baggage items using Transformers artwork from the original 1980s toy boxes (the battle scenes on the back).
I don't know if these are real items that they are actually releasing, or if they are just one-off promotional pieces by Moschino.

I think they forgot to fold out the two panels that give the waist a bit more depth.

Seems like it but I’m still sad his waist is going to be a thin hollow box from the back.

These look awesome. Now Blackout looks bigger than Starscream.

Yo Ratchet, I know what Cemetery Wind and Lockdown did to you, but there's no need to hide in vehicle mode here!

Nice! I\'m leaning towards getting Predaking to go with my CW Devastator, but still need to make a final decision. The one pic of Shockwave doesn\'t really do the figure justice, but I\'m hoping he\'ll be a nice CHUG stand in. Lovin them Studio Series pics.

The least that should have happened is Blackout's head should have been up to either Grimlocks eyes or chin.

i can't say anything about Predaking that hasn't already been said. i love him and i will own him and he'll look great next to Devastator as they menacingly stand behind the rest of the Decepticon combiners..

the cyberverse warrior Shockwave is still so far the ONLY figure out of the entire lineup that looks even remotely good. Thank god for that. ill have a nice companion to my RID Soundwave and won't have to worry about anything else from the line.

though i do miss the days when the "normal toy line" was devoted to whichever show is currently on, and while i love Generations, it's completely taken over as the "main line" with apparently no room for anything other than G1 revamps (even though it was originally supposed to be revamps of various generations and a way to release previously unreleased or cancelled figured... *cough animated blackout/wasp*)

I would KILL for Armada to be re-done properly... (that flimsy deluxe Starscream and the leader Megatron repaint hardly count, the one sucked/too small and the other was lazy.)

I'm confident to say this is the worst rendition of Predaking ever. :(

Well no, that would be the G1 toy, obviously. But can you really say that when, dragons aside, there are only two Predakings to compare?

Then Blackout wouldn't be the right size compared to Starscream or any other movie 1 toys in this line. Which is the whole point. And he clearly has the same amount of plastic as grimlock, what with his enormous rotor dealy.

Nope. I'll take the G1 toy over this disaster. The G1 individual robots in particular are better, what with lacking the giant combiner kibble backpacks.

Would have been better if they just did a double-sized reissue of the G1 figures. Titan Predaking is a complete misfire.

I guess that's true. I still accept they finally made a Leader Class Blackout. But the size just makes him like an Ultra.

    More like a complete hitfire.
Who hurt you such that you would be capable of falsely believing that a G1 toy could ever be better than a modern toy?
