Heads up! Tonight starts a new show called Toy Hunters on the Travel Channel. A show in the same vein as Storage Hunters. Tonight features the NYCC.
Watching it right now and EVERYONE TELL YOUR FRIENDS cause this show is really cool so far. I've heard that this show hasn't been picked up yet for a season. After this episode their isn't anymore episodes on my dish guide. I also heard that this episode was a trial run to see if they could get the viewers so they could make more episodes. It comes back on 130am CST this morning for those that forgot about it. Well roughly in about 3hrs give or take some.
Three minutes into the show and "M.A.S.K. is the precursor to Transformers." Hoo boy. I wish they had chosen someone other than some scalper dbag to "host" this series.
I caught that too. Bad toy knowledge and scalper d-baginess aside, I found the show to be fun and interesting. I wouldn't mind if it went to series.
I thought the same thing when he said MASK is the precursor to TF's. I know its NOT cause frankly TF's where OUT in 84' and 85" so I think hes just a little wrong. I do hope that the show DOES continue though cause we need more shows like this on tv today when their isn't really ANYTHING GOOD out these days on tv.
Saw it and enjoyed it for the most part. The "host" did kinda grate on me a little bit though. Seemed rather pushy to me. Wouldn't say he was a full on d-bag, but I did find him to be a little disrespectful towards that action figure magazine guy. Got all "yeah, whatever" with him after he couldn't get that Tron stuff and the guy offered to show him to his warehouse instead. He went back to a nice guy after that and scored some stuff, but still, dude invited you in when he never does that. And if he doesn't want to sell you something? Oh well, move on and don't get your panties all in a bunch. But man, can't believe that dude at Comic Con paid $17,000 for that Boba Fett prototype
If my eyes are correct they did show one, but it was blurred out for some reason. It looked to be the minispy RiD Prime, and it was in that magazine dude's back room(where the host got the Battle Galatica, Six Million Dollar Man Oscar, and Home Alone's Kevin toys).
You are correct - I saw the same thing at the 34 minute mark on my DVR. I enjoyed the show because I'm from Cincinnati so it was neat to see the various locations on tv. I've been to that Queen City comic book store before. I wish I knew some of the former Kenner employees from around here so that I can score some Beast Wars stuff and/or prototypes. Sadly, I don't. I enjoyed watching that 40 something year-old bald man jumping up and down and gigling like a little boy when he saw that Bobba Fett prototype. But yeah, Mask is the precursor for Transformers. I would have expected a "toy hunter" like that guy to know better.
Was it a rocket-firing Boba Fett figure prototype? Because that's pretty much like the godfather of all prototype-only toys.
I watched the late night repeat last night. The guy reminded me of someone who I used to play Magic:The Gathering with- when he wanted a card or something he would be pushy as hell about it, doing anything he could to get it.
